Anostrus dönemindeki köpeklerde ostrus ve ovulasyonun uyarılması üzerine çalışmalar

In this study, 35 German Shepherd Dogs and 10 stray bitches of the same managemant conditions were used as material. All bitches were physically examined to determine that they were in anoestrus at the beginning of the study. Then following methods were carried out: Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotrophin (PMSG) and Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (HCG) Application (lst.Method); Diethylstilbestrol (DES), HCG and PMSG Application (2nd.Method); Pulsatile Gonadatrophine Releasing Hormone (GnRH) Aplication (3rd.Method); Cabergoline Applications (4th.Method); Control Group (5thMethod:). Vaginal cytological;examinations of all bitches were made every other day and bitches which showed oestrus were mated with the sires. As a result 100 % oestrus and 40 %pregnancy in the 1st method; 70% oestrus and 30 % pregnancy in the 2nd method; 10 % oestrus and no pregnancy in the 3th method were found. In the 4th method 90 %oestrus and 80 %pregnancy were found the results were evaluated statistically and were compared with the results at the literatures.

Broyler piliçlerde erken dönemdeki beslemede uygulanacak değişikliklerin kesim yaşındaki abdominal yağ birikimi üzerine etkileri

Araştırmada günlük yaşta 151 adet erkek, 144 adet dişi Arbor Acres broyler civciv kullanılmıştır. Her grupta eşit sayıda erkek ve dişi civciv bulundurulmasına özen gosterilerek sekiz deneme grubu oluşturulmuştur. Butün gruplara 1. günden 5. gne ve 11. gunden 21. gune kadar 2987 Khal/kg metabolize olabilir enerji (ME) ve %21.82 ham protein (HP) içeren civciv başlangıç yemi ad libitum olarak yedirilmiştir. 22-56. günler arasında bütün gruplardaki hayvanlar 3047 Kkallkg ME ve %21.66 HP içeren etlik piliç yemini adlibitum olarak tüketmişler araştırmanın 5.-1 0. günleri arasında ise 6 giin sureyle % 0, % 2.5, % 5 ve % 7. 5 oranlanında bitkisel yag içeren dort adet izokalorik ve izonitrojenik deneme yemi 2x4 faktoriyel duzen içerisinde dört deneme grubuna adlibitum, diger dort deneme grubuna ise kıstlanarak yedirilmiştir. Yem kısıtlaması her hayvanın yaşama payı enerji gereksinimini karşılayabileceği miktarda yem tüketebilecegi şekilde düzenlenmiştir.

Bursa'da 1988-1996 yılları arasında incelenen köpek tümörleri

In this survey, a total of 89 tumors from dogs with different breed, age and sex were examined in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Uludag from January 1988 to October 1996. The tumors were the most frequently encountered in the female genital system (47. 2 %), followed by cutaneous (20.3 %), male genital system (1 9.1 %) and alimentary system (5. 6 %) respectively. Transmissible venereal tumor was the most common tumor and was detected in thirty-one (34.8%) out of 89 dogs.

Deri lezyonu şikayeti ile getirilen ve sağlıklı olan köpeklerde serum çinko düzeylerinin belirlenmesi ve karşılaştırılması

A total of 69 dogs, 56 of them had skin lesions and the rest were healty, were used as material. The concentration of zinc in serum was determinated using atomic absorbtion spectrophotometry. Dogs with skin lesions diagnosed as flea allergy (n=l2); allergic dermatitis (n= 12); demodicosis (n= 15); dermatomycosis (n=5) and nonspecific dermatozis (n= 12). Mean concentration of zinc in serum was determinated as; 15.04 f.llnollml; 17.62 pmollml; 16.06 pmollml; 18.87 pmol/ml; 17.44 pmol/ml ve 9.86 pmollml respectively in flea allergy, allergic dermatitis, demodicosis , dermatomycosis, nonspesific dermatosis and healty dogs. Serum zinc concentration was significantly higher than in healty dogs. There were no significant variations between the dogs in different skin disease groups.

Endotoksemili köpeklerde izotonik, hipertonik ve hipertonik+ izotonik sodyum klorur solusyonlarının etkileri

In this study, effects of isotonic saline solution (JSS-0.9 %), hypertonic saline solution (HSS-7. 2 %) and HSS+ISS were compared in 15 dogs with endotoxemia, which had been formed experimentally. E. coli lypopolysaccarid (E. coli 055: B5-Difco) was given i.v. at a dose of0.3 mglkg in order to induce endotoxemia. After endotoxemia induced, first and second group of dogs receivediSS (32 mglkg, n=5), HSS (4 mllkg, n=5), respectively. In third group, ISS (1 5 mllkg) was given at 75th minutes following HSS (4 mllkg, n=5) administration. All dogs were examined for some parameters before experiment, just after being formed endotoxemia, and at 5th and 30th minutes, and 2nd, 6 th and 24 th hours during fluid therapy. Parameters examined were temperature, heart and respiration rate, capillary filling time (CFI'), quality of peripheral pulsation, hematocrit, hemoglobin, erythrocyte, MCV, MCH, MCHC, total leucocyte, thrombocyte, serum total protein, Na and Cl levels. In addition, plasma volume was also calculated using hematocrit and hemoglobin values. After administration of the solutions in all the groups, increasing in plasma volume, and improvement of the CFI' and quality of peripheral pulsation were observed. When compared with the other two groups, increasing in plasma volume, and shortening in CFI' together with improvement of peripheral pulsation quality (P < 0. 0 1) were determined in the HSS+ ISS group at the 2nd and 6th hours of the trial. After HSS and ISS administration in HSS +ISS group, increasing in Na concentration was determined (P < 0.001). Cl concentration increased following HSS administration in HSS (P < 0.01) and HSS+ISS (P < 0.05) groups. However, adverse, effect ofhypernatremi was not seen. It was determined that administration ofHSS at 118 rate of that oJISS showed similar effect to that of ISS. Finally, it was observed that HSS would be firstly used alone in order to regulate plasma volume and tissue perfusion in endotoxemia cases. In addition, it was also seen that isotonic crystalloid fluids could be used to maintain the effect of HSS.

Holstein sığırlarda bazı kan parametreleri ile ostradiol değerleri

Newly calved 5 Holstein cows (3-4 years old) and 3 heifers (1 0 month old) kept and raised at the research farm of Uludag University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine were used as the research material in this study Blood samples taken from jugular vein every week in winter season (November, December, January) were analyzed for hematocrit (PCV), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), erythocyte sodium and potassium (ENa, EK), and plasma oestradiol (Est.) values. In cows and heifers PCV; 31-30 %, ESR (1 and 2 hours) 17-33, 17-33 mm, ENa; 69.9-61.5 mEq/1, EK 13.7-19.4 mEq/1, and Est; 2 7.9 - 82.1 pgl ml were calculated respectively. EN a values of cows were higher but EK values were lower than that of heifers, but oestradiol values of heifers seemed to be significantly higher than that of cows.

iki kedide enfeksiyoz peritonitis

In the two cats, 8 and 4-year-old, referred with a history of abdominal distention, diagnosis of feline infectious peritonitis was made as results of clinical, laboratory, pathological and serological exaininations. Characteristically; in both cases, abdominal fluid accumulation and neutrophilic leukocytosis were determined. In the analyses of the peritoneal fluids of both cats an increase of total protein and leukocyte numbers, ratio of AJG less than 0.81, no bacteria isolation and no clearence after the addition of ether were observed, and, thus, fluids were evaluated non-septic exudates as in cats with FIP. On the necropsy of the first case fibrinous peritonitis and fluid accumulation was seen. In the histopathological examination, along with inflammation usually restricted to the serosal surfaces, perivasculitis and thromboses were observed in the Jiver and spleen. As a conclusion, in the diagnosis of FIP since the serological tests are not highly positive in all the time, the impontance of clinical, laboratory and pathological findings was once more observed.

İneklerde ovaryum kistleri üzerinde histopatololik ve hormonal incelemeler

In this study ovaries of 500 slaughtered cows in Bursa and Akr;alar abattoirs were examined. Ten ovaries with Graaf follicles and cystic ovaries were collected. The cysts ere examined macroscopically and microscopically. Estradiol and progesteron hormon levels were determined in cystic and follicular fluid. As a result, in 12 out of 500 cases (2.4%) Jollicular cysts and in 3 cases (0.6%) lutein cysts were observed. Estradiollevels were lower (47.41 ± 1.9 nglml) infollicular cysts than injluidsfrom Graaffollicles (1 73.07::/:: 2.89 ng/ml). Progesteron levels were markedly higher in luteal cysts (509.67 ± 26.1 ng!ml) than in the other follicles (43,96 ± 1,59 ng/ml). Histopathological investigations have indicated the relationship between hormonal Junction and cyst structure.

Bir kedide rastlanılan hiperşilomikronemi, feline infectious peritonıtıs (fıp) ve psoydoşiloz efuzyon olgusu

A one year old male, domestic cat was referred for examination at the Veterinary Hospital of the Faculty ofVeterinary Medicine ofUludag University, presented with abdominal distention. Clinical examination, hematology, microscobical and biochemical analysis of abdominal fluid were performed. He had nQnregenerative aneamia, neutrophilic leukocytosis, relative lymphopenia and pseudochylous effusion. Lactascent serum was observed, he had hypertriglisedimia; chylomicron and Lipoprotein Lipaz Activity tests were positive. Serum was evaluated for FeLV, FIV and FIP serologically and PCR analysis of the serum and effusion were performed. Positive results were obtained for FIP. Histopathology revealed severe serosal and capsular pyogranulamatous inflammation. Histochemistry depicted fine cholesterol crystals, saturated lipids, ceroid pigments within the foam cells and macrophages.

Köpeklerde Juvenil cellulitis (pyoderma) (l olgu: 1995 - 1996)

Three dogs diagnosed as having juvenile cellulitis {juvenile pyoderma) in two years were evaluated for clinical, laboratory and therapeutic results. Breeds included Anatolian sheepdog (Kangal), terrier and cross-breed German shepherd. Of these dogs one was female and two were males, and none of them was vaccinated, their ages ranged between two and three months. In all the three dogs, there were lymphadenopathy, especially in the submandibular nodes, painful skin lesions characterised with swellings, auricular discharge, and their temperatures were normal. While perioculer and perioral lesions and seropurulent discharge were determined in two dogs and swelling under chin in the other dogs, in one dog swelling on pinnea were observed. Two dogs were lethargic and anorexic. Normocytic normochromic anemia, neutrophili and leucocytosis were significant laboratory findings. The bacteria was only isolated in one case. One of them was died. Histopathology of the skin lesions depicted pyogranulomatous cellulitis. It was observed that usage of prednisolone (2 mg/kg daily) and cephalexin or cefazolin (30 mg/kg twice daily) in the remaining dogs gave good results. It was concluded that a c:areful evaluation of clinical and laboratory findings in the diagnosis ofjuvenile cellulitis is very important. In addition, this is the first observation of the disease in Anatolian sheepdog (Kangal) which is a native breed ofTurkey and also non-short-coated.

Kurt ve kangal ırkı köpeklerin taze ve sulandırılmış spermalarının spermatolojik ozellikleri ve viabilitesi üzerinde araştırmalar

In the present study, it is aimed to investigate the spermatological characteristics and the viability of fresh and diluted semen of German Shepherd Dogs and Kangal Dogs comparatively. For this aim, eight German Shepherd Dogs and eight Kangal Dogs, bred in Gemlik Military Research Training Center Commandary, were used. Semen was collected by digital manipulation. Collected semen samples were examined for volume, motility, spermatozoid concentration, percentages of abnormal, dead, acrosome defected spermatozoids and pH. The averages of the mentioned characteristics of German Shepherd Dogs and Kangal Dogs were found 3.32 ml, % 80.80, 393. 70x1rl!ml, % 1 3.08, % 2.98, % 2.29 and 6.34; 3.65 m/, % 72.01, 335.20x1rl!ml, %10.00, %2.93, %1.78and6.05, respectively. Semen samples were diluted with Tris + Glucose + Citric acid + Egg Yolk {T-YS) and Sodiumdihydrogenphosphate + Glycin + Glucose + Egg Yolk (SDHP-YS) diluents and cooled to +4°C for viability examination, and examined at 12 hours interval until the motility ended. Motility was ended on 108th and 36th hours for semen diluted with T-YS ahd SDHP-YS diluents, respectively.

Kıvırcık koyunu ve yerli keçide spinal sinirlerin (pars cervicalis, pars thoracalis, pars lumbalis, pars sacralis, pars coccygea) ramus ventralis'lerinin makro anatomisi ve sinir demetlerinin (fasciculus) dağılımı ve yerleşimi üzerine araştırmalar

The project was carried out on 5 Kzvzrczk Sheep and 5 Native Goat, which were purchased by Uludag University, Research Foundation Administration Office. Following euthanasia the animals were fixed by 10 %formaldehyde. Spinal cord were disclosed by cutting each vertebra off from the level ofvertebral arch. The right ventral rami of spinal nerves were dissected. Transversal nerve sections of 0.2-0.4 cm. width were taken to determine the numbers and radii of nerve fascicles. They were painted by smearing India Ink and were examined under 2 x 2 x 10 magnification . As a result of this study, fibre numbers and diameters were found to be more in ventral rami of spinal cord in brachial and lumbosacral plexus in both animals. Although, the number of the fibres at the ventral rami of spinal nerves were found to be more in the sheep, fiber diameters were smaller compare to those of the goats

Kıvırcık koyunu ve yerli keçilerde nervus vagus uzerinde makroskopik ve subgros araştırmalar

This study was carried out on 1,5-2 years old, 5 Kıvırcık Sheep and 5 Native Goats which were bought by Uludag University, Research Foundation Administration Office. After anasthesizing the animals were fıxed with 10 % formaldehyde solution. After dissecting vagal nerve, 0. 2-0.4 cm. width sections were taken from some levels of the nerve. Those sections were examined under 2x2x 10 magnification. As a result, bundle numbers in the first six section levels were found to be more at the right side in sheep and at the left side in goat in general. In the seventh and eighth section levels bundle numbers were more in Native Coat with compare to Kıvırcık Sheep. In both species an inverse proportion was found between bundle numbers and bundle diameters in the examined section levels.

Mısır ve soyaya dayalı rasyonlara enzim katılmasının etlik piliçlerde canlı ağırlık artışı, yemden yararlanma ve karkas randımanına etkileri

This experiment was conducted with, 360 male chicks to determine the effects of enzyme addition to broiler feeds, based on corn and soybean, on the performance of broiler. Chicks were distributed by 3 main groups named as Control, Treatment 1 and Treatment 2. Each of the main group contained 10 replication groups of 12 chicks. The starter and grower feeds of the groups were as follows: Control : Corn and soybean based basal diets (starter: 3100 kcallkg ME and 22 % CP, grower: 3200 kcallkg ME and 20 % CP) : Basal diets plus enzyme 1500) Treatment 2: The diet eontained less 2.5% metabolisable energy and crude protein than basal diet plus enzyme 1500). Weight gain of the control, treatment 1 and treatment 2 groups were 1640, 1700 and 1606 g respectively. There were no statistically important difference between weight gains of control and Treatment 2 but Treatment I had importantly higher weight gain than Treatment 2 (P < 0.05). Feed efficiency of the groups were 2.33, 2.25 and 2.27, respectively. Differences between feed efficiency values of the groups were not significant. Groups of Treatment 1 and Treatment 2 had higher carcass dressing percentage than that of the control (P < 0. 05). The data suggested that enzyme supplementation to corn - soybean based broiler diets had beneficial effects on weight gain, feed efficiency and carcass dressing persentage.

Nazofaringeal lenfoid hiperplazılı atlarda lga, lgg ve lgm, total protein ve albumin duzeyleri

We investigated the levels of immunglobulines in horses that were healthy and with Nasopharyngeal Lymphoid Hyperplasie and if there were a connection between these levels and the severity degrees of the NLHP. It was used 1-4 aged, 46 of NLHP and 10 of healthy Thoroughbred and Arabian horse in this study. Nasopharyngeal Lymphoid Hyperplasie was diagnosed by endescopy and the severity degrees of the disease were classificated with LHPb LHP2> LHP3> LHP4. It was detected serum lgA, IgG, IgM, total protein and albumin levels from all horses and observed the differences statistically between all groups. There was no difference in serum IgA and IgG levels between the healthy group and the other groups with NLHP. While there was no change in lgM between the healthy and the other groups with NLHP, there was an increase in LHP4 group, statistically p < 0.05. It was not detected the differences statistically between all groups.

Otomatik enjeksiyon ve pres makinesi kullanarak üretilen pastırmaların kimyasal ve mikrobiyolojik özellikleri

The purpose of this study was to modernise the production technology to develop a simmpler and more applicable method for Pastramie production. Pastramies produced by using automatic injection and pressing machine in each p roduction stage were studied bacteriologically for total bacterial counts, coliform groups, E. coli, Staphylococ - Micrococ and yeast and m old, and chemical characteristics the moisture, pH, salt, nitrite. The microbiological and chemical values taken from the pastrami samples were shown in Tables 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. These results showed that, pastramies produced by using brine in a concentration of % 10 of meat weight, then massage and by raising the pressing time to 48 hours, would be produced easily by many firms. The microbiological counts in pastramies produced as 7th and 8th group by this method as follows, total bacteria 2x1rflg. , 1.5x107 /g., coliform bacteria 0,1.2x103 /g. , staphylococ and micrococ 1.8x1rflg. , 1.6x107 /g., mold and yeasts 2x105 /g., 1. 7x1rflg. The relative moisture was f ound 36.67 %, 37. 10 %, salt 4.15 %, 4.07%, pH 5.6, 5.6, nitrite 0.0030 %, 0.0030% respectively.

Ramlıç koyunlarda iki yılda üç kuzulatma sisteminin uygulanabilirliği uzerine bir çalışma

The improving of the level of fertilazing of the sheep has a great importance in people's nutrition and the contribution of the countries economy. For this aim, this investigation was done to prove the -applicability of the system of lambing in Ramht; sheep three times in two years. The sheep were mated in 8-month intervals consisting of 5-month pregnancy, 2-month lactation and one-month resting periods. It has been found that while fertility traits such as oestrus, pregnancy, partrution, rate of lamb, twinnig and litter size were 97. 97 %, 87. 37 %, 86.86 %, 117.1 7 %, 34.38% and 1.34 respectively in october; 90.27%, 65.40 %, 65.40 %, 75.67%, 15.7 % and 1.16 respectively in July, the values of the same fertility traits were 75.43%, 75.43%, 75.43%, 77. 20 %, 2.32% and 1.02 respectively in April. During the investigating, it has been found that the average lambing interval was 281 days. It has been found that the birth weight and 60th day- weight of male lambs from mating in October were 3.99 and 15.23 kg, the values ofthe same traits of the female Lambs 3.63 and 14.89 kg; the birth weight of the male and female lambs mating in July was 3.94 and 3. 78 kg and 6Qih day weight 17.42 and 16.65 kg; the values of the same traits of the male and female ones in April were 4.85 and 4.67 kg, 15.32 and 15.27 kg. respectively. The survival on 60th day of the lambs, which were born after mating in October, July and April has been established as 95.25, 97.86 and 92.04 % respectively. The general average values of the body weights of ewe before mating were 60.41, 60.68 ve 57. 62 kg respectively in mating in October, July and April. When the research is completely considered, it was concluded that programe of lambing three times in two years would be able to succesfully apply to the Ratrilzy Sheep.

Chronic toxicological effects and histopathologic aspects of liquid mosquito repellent which contains bioallethrin, a pyrethroid insecticide, was administered to rats by inhalation for eight hours daily for four months were examined. Smoke-exposed rats clinically showed signs of chronic neurotoxicity. In the lavage fluid of lungs of smoke-exposed rats, the levels of total protein were significantly higher and the levels of acid phosphatase were significantly lower (p < 0.01) than those of controls. There were significant increases ofsenlm enzymes, including total protein, globulin (p < 0.001) and acid phosphatase (p < 0.05), but there were no significant increases of serum urea and urea nitrogen, albumin, aspartate aminotranferase and gamma glutamyltranspeptidase. Süt ineklerinde mevsimsel bazı mineral, hematokrit ve sedimentasyon değerlerinin incelenmesi

This study was carried out on 20 cattle (Holstein and Brown Swiss) raised under the identical feeding and housing conditions. Blood samples taken from jugular vein twice a month, in winter (January, February, March) and in summer (June, July, August) from cattle divided into two equal groups (10 heifers and 10 lactating cows) were analysed for erythrocyte sedimentation rates (ESR), hematocrit (PCV), calcium, sodium and potassium. Winter values of heifers and cows for sedimentation rates (for 1 and 2 hours) 17.50-19.48 mm/hour, 36.37-41.67 mm/2hours, PCV 31.98-30.52 %, serum calcium (Ca) 10.26-10.06 mgldl, plasma sodium (PNa) 149.85-149.63 mmol/ 1, plasma potassium (PK) 3.86-3.98 mmol/ 1, erythrocyte sodium (EN a) 80.80-77. 10 mmolll and erythrocyte potassium (EK) 16.07-15.92 mmolll were calculated respectively. In summer, ESR and PK values of both groups were higher (P < 0.01). but PCV, PNa, ENa and EK values were lower than that of winter values. There was no seasonal difference between calcium values of lactating cows, but summer calcium values of heifers were lower than winter values {P<0.05)
