dc.description.abstractBu çalışma, Türkiye'nin en tanınmış ve en çok okunan yazarlarından Ömer Seyfettin'in 1908-1920 yılları arasında kaleme aldığı öykülerinde, İkinci Meşrutiyet Dönemi'nin siyasal ve toplumsal yapısına yönelttiği eleştirileri ve bu eleştirilerin arka planındaki ideolojik modeli çözümlemeye ve yorumlamaya yönelik bir çabanın ürünüdür. 1908'de gerçekleşen Jön Türk Devrimi, Fransız İhtilâli'nden esinlenerek benimsediği "hürriyet, müsavat, uhuvvet" (ve adalet) ilkeleriyle siyasal liberalizmin sınırları içinde kalan bir resmî söyleme ve programa sahiptir. Devrimi izleyen yıllarda birçok Osmanlı-Türk aydını, bu ilkeleri –şu ya da bu oranda başarılı olan- birer ulusal kimlik siyasetiyle birleştirmeye çalışmıştır. Ancak Ömer Seyfettin'in öykülerinde gözlemlenen siyaset ve toplum anlayışı, devrimin ilkelerini milliyetçiliğe, yerleşmekte olan yeni uygarlık değerlerini ise doğaya aykırı sayarak reddetme eğilimindedir. Bu nedenle yazarın temsil ettiği Türkçülük yorumu, gerek İkinci Meşrutiyet'in, gerekse onun içinden doğan Cumhuriyet'in anayasal milliyetçilik programlarıyla uyuşamayacak ve Türk politik tarihinde farklı bir çizgiyi temsil edecektir.tr_TR
dc.description.abstractÖmer Seyfettin, one of the most popular short-story writers of Modern Turkey, was an early critic of the political ideology and social structure of the Second Constitutional Era. This study is a product of the efforts made to analyse and interpret that criticism and the ideological motives in its background, by his stories, written between 1908 and 1920. The Young Turk Revolution of 1908 was deeply inspired by the French Revolution and adopted its basic principles; "liberté, egalité, fraternité" (plus justice). The official discourse and program of the new regime was a represantation of political liberalism. Besides, after the revolution, various Ottoman-Turkish intellectuals (whether succesful or not) tried to combine these principles with a national identity policy. But the socio-political insight seen in Ömer Seyfettin's stories, tends to reject the fundamental principles of the revolution and the newly adopted values of civilisation, reasoning they were in contrast with nationalism and nature. Therefore, his view of Turkish Nationalism is not in harmony with the offical ideology of Second Constitution, neither with the Republic's, and represents a different line in Turkish political history.en_US
