This study examines the establishment, development and change process of Bursa Kültürpark, which we argue can be considered among the urban parks of the Republic period since it follows the concept of İzmir Kültürpark, although it was historically opened after 1950; how it came to its current state; and includes in- depth interviews with those who witnessed the change of Kültürpark. Since this is not only a landscape architecture or landscaping study but also a master's thesis in the department of sociology, we have also included the history of gardens and recreation areas before the establishment of urban parks in the thesis. As sociology students, we know that in order to evaluate something on the agenda of sociology, it is necessary to examine the history of that thing. If sociology is "philosophy about society", we need to examine how this society built its entertainment areas, recreation areas, gardens and squares; what they were thinking about and why they built them that way. For this reason, we have tried to examine the differences and similarities between the garden designs of societies, the historical process leading from gardens to urban parks all over the world, and the development of the concept of urban parks in Turkey. Finally, we have made Bursa Kültürpark, which is the first modern urban park in Bursa and the first park established in Turkey under the name of Kültürpark after İzmir, the subject of our thesis. While doing this, we used qualitative methods, but while conducting a literature review, we felt the need to include the quantitative studies previously conducted on Kültürpark in our thesis. Thus, we tried to reflect the historical change process without interruption, from the first garden narratives to today's urban parks. In this context, the aim of our thesis is to briefly trace the change in the meaning that people attribute to gardens and parks, from the first gardens in the world to today's urban parks, without breaking the continuity.
