Abstract
The frequence of nephrotoxic effects due to NSAIDs is low and generally the drugs are regarded as safe and well tolerated. However the growing use of these agents means that even with a relatively low frequency rate, nephrotoxic effects will be seen commonly. Effects of NSAID on the kidney have been described and include an acute deterioration in renal function, acute renal failure, acute interstitial nephritis, hyperkalemia, renal papillary necrosis, Na and water retention, hypertension, and chronic renal failure.
