The effects of short-term recombinant bovine somatotropin treatment on fattening performance, carcass composition and visceral organ weights in karayaka lambs in Turkey
    (Springer, 2008-05) Balcı, Faruk; Orman, Abdülkadir; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veterinerlik Fakültesi/Zootekni Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-9138-4422; AAG-9134-2021; 16062981700; 24335834100
Recombinant bovine somatotropin (bST) was administered s.c. to lambs for 6 weeks to evaluate its effects on fattening performance, carcass composition and visceral organ weights. Twenty male Karayaka lambs were injected with 250 mg bST every two weeks. Body weight, live weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion rate were not affected by treatment. Head, feet, skin, liver, spleen, kidneys, filled and empty gastrointestinal tract, penis, testis, pelvic fat and internal fat weights were similar for the two groups. Lung weight increased by 17.4% (P < 0.01) and weight of heart decreased 22.7% (P < 0.05) in bST treated lambs. The only carcass characteristics that were affected by bST administration were limb muscle which increased from 1331 g to 1417 g (P < 0.05), loin fat which decreased from 275 g to 174 g (P < 0.01), shoulder fat which decreased from 26 g to 13 g (P < 0.01) and total fat/final weight percentage which decreased from 9.8% to 7.6% (P < 0.05). The results of this study show that prolonged release formulation of bST treatment reduces fat tissue, but does not significantly affect fattening performance or weights of visceral organs, muscle and bone.

(Taylor and Francis, 2013-03) Demirkaya, Metin; Çelebi, Solmaz; Sevinir, Betül Berrin; Hacımustafaoğlu, Mustafa Kemal; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Pediatrik Onkoloji Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veterinerlik Fakültesi/Enfeksiyon Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; EUG-4353-2022; JHN-1091-2023; AAH-1570-2021; CTG-5805-2022; 24331130000; 7006095295; 6603199915; 6602154166
The objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of piperacillin-tazobactam(PIP/TAZO) plus amikacin (AMK) (PIP/TAZO+AMK) versus cefoperazone-sulbactam (CS) plus AMK (CS+AMK) for the treatment of febrile neutropenia (FN) in children with cancer. The study was designed prospectively and randomized in 0- to 18-year-old children with lymphoma or solid tumor who were hospitalized with FN diagnosis. Consecutively randomized patients received either PIP/TAZO 360 mg/kg/day in 4 doses plus AMK 15 mg/kg/day in 3 doses or CS 100 mg/kg/day in 3 doses plus AMK 15 mg/kg/day in 3 doses intravenously. Treatment modification was defined as any change in the initial empirical antibiotic therapy. A total of 116 FN episodes were managed in 46 patients (26 boys and 20 girls) with a median age of 6.5 years (range .8-17.0) during the study period. Success rates without modification of therapy were 47.5% and 52.6% in PIP/TAZO+AMK group and CS+AMK group, respectively (P>.05). No statistical difference was found between treatment groups in terms of durations of neutropenia, fever, and hospitalization. The overall success rate in all groups was 97.4%. No major side effect was observed in either group during the course of the study. Our study is the first to compare the effectiveness of PIP/TAZO+AMK and CS+AMK therapies. Both combinations were effective and safe as empirical therapy for febrile neutropenic patients.

Aglepristone is a safe abortifacient in cats, dogs and rabbits. Although no serious side effects have been reported, there is no information available about the effects of the medicine on haematological parameters. For the first time clinical and ultrasonographic features and haematological profiles were evaluated in rabbits treated with aglepristone 15 and 16 days after mating. Ten healthy 10-14 month-old New Zealand White female rabbits were mated with fertile bucks and pregnancies were confirmed by ultrasound 15 days later. Of these, 5 does were treated with aglepristone (test group, n = 5) whilst the remaining five (control group, n = 5) were treated with a saline solution (0.9% NaCl). The treatment dose was 10 mg/kg body weight, administered subcutaneously once daily on two consecutive days (day 15 and 16 post mating). Ultrasonographic, clinical and haematological assessments were performed daily. Aglepristone treatment induced embryonic fluid resorptions without foetal death in mid-gestation terminations. Following ultrasonographic and haematological examinations, it was established that aglepristone is a safe abortifacient in rabbits.

Observation of a charged charmoniumlike structure Zc (4020) and search for the Zc(3900) in e+e- → π+π-hc
(American Physical Society, 2013-12-10) Tapan, İlhan; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi/Fizik Bölümü.; CCD-9486-2022; 8905787000
We study e+e-→ π+π-hcat center-of-mass energies from 3.90 to 4.42 GeV by using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The Born cross sections are measured at 13 energies and are found to be of the same order of magnitude as those of e+e-→ π+π-J/ψ but with a different line shape. In the π±hcmass spectrum, a distinct structure, referred to as Zc(4020), is observed at 4.02 GeV/c2. The Zc(4020) carries an electric charge and couples to charmonium. A fit to the π±hcinvariant mass spectrum, neglecting possible interferences, results in a mass of (4022.9 ± 0.8 ± 2.7) MeV/c2and a width of (7.9 ± 2.7 ± 2.6) MeV for the Zc(4020), where the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. The difference between the parameters of this structure and the Zc(4025) observed in the D∗ D∗ final state is within 1.5σ, but whether they are the same state needs further investigation. No significant Zc(3900) signal is observed, and upper limits on the Zc(3900) production cross sections in π±hcat center-of-mass energies of 4.23 and 4.26 GeVare set. © 2013 American Physical Society.

Reversal of nicotine withdrawal signs through positive allosteric modulation of α4β2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in male mice
(Oxford University Press, 2018-07) Hamouda, Ayman K.; Jackson, Asti; Damaj, M. Imad; Bağdaş, Deniz; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Deney Hayvanları Yetiştirme ve Araştırma Merkezi.; EOB-5882-2022; 15062425700
Introduction: Nicotine withdrawal symptoms are important factors in determining the relapse rate to tobacco smoking and drugs that diminish these symptoms would potentially have a higher success rate as smoking cessation aids. Unlike US Food and Drug administration approved smoke cessation aids (nicotine and varenicline) which act as nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) agonists, desformylflustrabromine (dFBr) acts as a nAChR positive allosteric modulator with higher selectivity to the alpha 4 ss 2 nAChR. In animal studies, dFBr was well tolerated and reduced intravenous nicotine self-administration. In this study, we use behavioral test in mouse model of spontaneous nicotine withdrawal to assess the effect of dFBr on nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Methods: Spontaneous nicotine withdrawal in nicotine-dependent ICR male mice was established 18-24 h after termination (minipump removal) of 14 days infusion of nicotine. After that (day 15), spontaneous signs of nicotine withdrawal were examined in the following order: anxiety-like behaviors, somatic signs, and then hyperalgesia using previously published behavioral protocols. Fifteen minutes before withdrawal signs testing, mice received a subcutaneous acute injection of vehicle or dFBr at the doses of 0.02, 0.1, and 1 mg/kg to determine the effect of dFBr on nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Results: dFBr produced dose-dependent reversal of nicotine withdrawal signs in mouse model of spontaneous nicotine withdrawal. Implications: Positive allosteric modulators of nAChR such as dFBr reduce nicotine withdrawal symptoms supporting the potential clinical use of this novel class of nAChR-based therapeutics as smoking cessation aid.

APECED in Turkey: A case report and insights on genetic and phenotypic variability
(Academic Press , 2018-09) Fierabracci, Alessandra; Pellegrino, Marsha; Frasca, Federica; Betterle, Corrado; Kılıç, Sara Şebnem; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-8571-2581; AAH-1658-2021; 34975059200
APECED is a rare monogenic recessive disorder caused by mutations in the AIRE gene. In this manuscript, we report a male Turkish patient with APECED syndrome who presented with chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis associated with other autoimmune manifestations developed over the years. The presence of the homozygous R257X mutation of the AIRE gene confirmed the diagnosis of APECED syndrome. We further performed literature review in 23 published Turkish APECED patients and noted that Finnish major mutation R257X is common in Turks. In particular, we assessed retrospectively how often the Ferre/Lionakis criteria would have resulted in earlier diagnosis in Finns, Sardinians and Turks in respect to the classic criteria. Since an earlier diagnosis could have been possible in 18.8% of Turkish, in 23.8% of Sardinian and 38.55% of Finnish patients we reviewed from literature, Ferre/Lionakis criteria could indeed allow in future earlier initiation of immunomodulatory treatments, if found effective in future studies.

Prognostic risk factors in ventilator-associated pneumonia
(International Scientific Information, 2018-03-05) Karakuzu, Ziyaettin; İşçimen, Remzi; Akalın, Halis; Girgin, Nermin Kelebek; Kahveci, Ferda; Sınırtaş, Melda; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Anesteziyoloji ve Reanimasyon Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Mikrobiyoloji ve Enfeksiyon Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-8111-5958; FAL-0396-2022; HKP-2533-2023; AAU-8952-2020; AAH-7250-2019; CYR-2043-2022; DSE-4824-2022; 56088206300; 16645821200; 57207553671; 55663009300; 6602405968; 6505818048
Background: Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is a nosocomial infection commonly seen in patients in intensive care units (ICU). This study aimed to analyze factors affecting prognosis of patients diagnosed with VAP. Material/Methods: Critically ill patients with VAP were retrospectively evaluated between June 2002 and June 2011 in the ICU. VAP diagnosis was made according to 2005 ATS/IDSA (Infectious Diseases Society of America/American Thoracic Society) criteria. First pneumonia attacks of patients were analyzed. Results: When early-and late-onset pneumonia causes were compared according to ICU and hospital admittance, resistant bacteria were found to be more common in pneumonias classified as early-onset according to ICU admittance. APACHE II score of >21 (p=0.016), SOFA score of >6 (p<0.001) on admission to ICU and SOFA score of >6 (p<0.001) on day of diagnosis are risk factors affecting mortality. Additionally, low PaO2/FIO2 ratio at onset of VAP had a negative effect on prognosis (p<0.001). SOFA score of >6 on the day of VAP diagnosis was an independent risk factor for mortality [(p<0.001; OR (95% CI): 1.4 (1.2-1.6)]. Conclusions: Resistant bacteria might be present in early-onset VAP. Especially, taking LOS into consideration may better estimate the presence of resistant bacteria. Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) were the most frequent causative microorganisms for VAP. SOFA score might be more valuable than APACHE II score. Frequently surveilling SOFA scores may improve predictive performance over time.

In recent years, an increasing number of research papers revealed that the compositional and volumetric alterations in the extracellular matrix are the consequences of aging and may be related to Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we aimed to demonstrate the alterations in hippocampal extracellular fluid proteins in vivo using the 5XFAD mouse model. Samples were obtained from hippocampi of 5XFAD mice (n = 6) and their non-transgenic littermates by intracerebral push-pull perfusion technique at 3 months of age, representing the pre-pathological stage of the AD. Proteins in the hippocampal perfusates were analyzed by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography-Electrospray Ionization Quadrupole Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-qTOF-MS/MS). 178 proteins were identified and 19 proteins of them were found to be statistically significantly altered (p <= 0.05, fold change >= 40%, unique peptide count >= 3) in the hippocampal CA1 extracellular fluid of the 5XFAD mouse model. Ingenuity pathway analysis of the protein expression results identified IL6 as an upstream regulator. The upregulation of IL6 was validated by immunohistochemical staining of the hippocampus and cortex of the 5XFAD mice prior to A beta plaque formation. Furthermore, the iron level in the hippocampus was measured by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry as IL6 is mentioned in several studies to take part in iron homeostasis and inflammation and found to be increased in 5XFAD mice hippocampus. Alterations in extracellular matrix proteins in addition to increasing amount of hippocampal IL6 and iron in the early stages of AD may reveal inflammation-mediated iron dyshomeostasis in the early stages of neurodegeneration.

Lake Uluabat, known for its scenic beauty and richness of aquatic life, is situated in Marmara Region, Bursa (Turkey). On account of its importance, lake Uluabat was designated by the Ministry of Environment as a Ramsar site in 1998. Physical, chemical and microbiological parameters of the aquatic ecosystem in lake Uluabat wore measured monthly at five stations from February 2003 to January 2004. The results showed that take Uluabat can be classified as Class I with respect to temperature (16.36 +/- 7.47 degrees C), nitrate nitrogen (0.63 +/- 0.50 mgl(-1)), sodium (9.64 +/- 2.78 mgl(-1)), chloride (20.45 +/- 4.59 mgl(-1)), sulphate (54.80 +/- 29.97 mgl(-1)); as Class II with respect to dissolved oxygen (7.62 +/- 1.99 mgl(-1)), ammonium nitrogen (0.52 +/- 0.49 mgl(-1)), chemical oxygen demand (35.74 +/- 10.66 mgl(-1)), total coliform (2027 MPN 100 ml(-1) (average value)); as Class III with respect to pH (8.69 +/- 0.16) and as Class IV with respect to total nitrogen (84.94 +/- 66.13 mgl(-1)), total phosphorus (1.11 +/- 3.01 mgl(-1)), biochemical oxygen demand (21.21 +/- 6.60 mgl-1) according to TWPCR (Turkey Water Pollution Control Regulation). The nutrient content of lake water apparently indicated that lake had an eutrophic characteristic. Phosphorus was determined as a limiting factor in lake. The measured hardness values (140.94 +/- 14.61 CaCO3 mgl(-1)) indicated that lake water was classified as soft/hard during the study period. Eutrophic characteristic of the lake and contaminant accumulation in water will probably affect the future use of the lake. Therefore, pollution parameters must be regularly monitored and evaluated according to aquatic living and local regulations.

Changes in structural, magnetic and magnetocaloric properties due to homogenization annealing in Ni54Mn19Ga27
    (Elsevier, 2019-01-01) Tekgül, Atakan; Şarlar, Kağan; Küçük, İlker; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi.; 0000-0001-6737-3838; 0000-0002-8871-2357; HWM-7283-2023; B-8159-2016; JJU-8757-2023; 37462175100; 55550817200; 6602910810
Structural and magnetic transformations in the Heusler system Ni54Mn19Ga27 due to different annealing time are studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and magnetization measurements. The developing of inter-martensitic and second order phase transition are investigated as a function of the annealing time. Analysis of the XRD data reveals that the austenite state has an L21 structure, whereas the structures of the martensite is a 14M (tetragonal) and the alloy crystallizes in the mixture phase at room temperature. In magnetic measurements, these martensite and austenite phases are ferromagnetic and due to ferromagnetic exchange caused different Curie temperatures for the austenitic and martensitic states in the sample with as prepared, 0.5 and 1 h except 5 h. The saturation magnetization changed from 35 to 68 A m2 kg−1 and the coercivity of these decreased from 1.8 to 0.3 mT as a function of annealing time. And also, the magnetic entropy change was determined to be 2.4 J kg−1 K−1 for as-prepared sample and 5.4 J kg−1 K−1 for 5 h sample. At 2 T magnetic field, the calculated relative cooling power (RCP) values for all alloys were found to be 85.8, 113.8, 120.8, 169.1 J kg−1 as annealing time increase. © 2018 Elsevier B.V.

Childhood emotional abuse and cyberbullying perpetration: The role of dark personality traits
(Sage Publications, 2021-11) Kırcaburun, Kağan; Jonason, Peter; Griffiths, Mark D.; Aslanargun, Engin; Emirtekin, Emrah; Billieux, Joel; Tosuntaş, Şule Betül; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Eğitim Fakültesi.; 0000-0002-0731-6505; H-8934-2018; 56400946800
Dark personality traits (i.e., Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism, spitefulness, and sadism) are associated with adverse childhood experiences and deviant online behaviors. However, their mediating role between childhood emotional abuse and cyberbullying has never previously been investigated. We examined direct and indirect associations of childhood emotional abuse and cyberbullying via dark personality traits among 772 participants. Men were better characterized by dark personality traits and were more likely to engage in cyberbullying than women, and there were no sex differences in childhood emotional abuse. Collectively, dark traits fully mediated the relationship between childhood emotional abuse and cyberbullying in men, with partial mediation in the total sample and women. More specifically, Machiavellianism and spitefulness were mediators in both samples, sadism was a mediator in men and the total sample, and psychopathy was a mediator in the total sample and women. The dark personality traits can account for the association between childhood emotional abuse and cyberbullying, especially among men.

In this study, poly(ethylene glycol dimethacrylate-N-methacryloyl-l-tryptophan methyl ester) [poly(EGDMA-MATrp)] beads (average diameter = 106-300 mu m), which were synthesized by co-polymerizing of N-methacryloyl-l-tryptophan methyl ester (MATrp) with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA), were used for diethyl phthalate (DEP) adsorption. The various factors affecting the adsorption of DEP from aqueous solutions such as pH, initial concentration, contact time and temperature were analysed. Adsorption behaviour of DEP on the poly(EGDMA-MATrp) beads was investigated by varying pH values of solution, contact time, initial concentration and temperature. An optimum adsorption capacity of 590.7 mg/g for DEP was obtained at 25 degrees C. The present adsorption process obeyed a pseudo-second-order kinetic model. All the isotherm data can be fitted with the Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm models. Thermodynamic parameters Delta H = 7.745 kJ/mol, Delta S = 81.92 J/K/mol and Delta G = -16.69 kJ/mol to -18.31 kJ/mol with the rise in temperature from 25 degrees C to 45 degrees C indicated that the adsorption process was endothermic and spontaneous.

The current study was designed to determine the effect of centrally administrated arachidonic acid (AA) on plasma gonadotropin hormone-releasing hormone (GnRH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone level, and sperm parameters, and to show the mediation of the central cyclooxygenase (COX) to thromboxane A(2) (TXA(2)) signaling pathway in AA-induced hormonal and sperm parameter effects. Studies were performed in male Sprague-Dawley rats. A total of 150 or 300 mu l/5 mu l doses of AA were injected intracerebroventricularly (icv). AA significantly caused dose- and time-dependent increases in plasma FSH, LH and testosterone levels of animals, but not plasma GnRH level. AA also significantly increased sperm motility of the rats without change sperm number. Pretreated with ibuprofen, a nonselective COX inhibitor (250 mu g/5 mu l; icv), and furegrelate, a TXA(2) synthesis inhibitor (250 mu g/5 mu l; icv), prevented AA-evoked increase in plasma FSH, LH and testosterone levels, and sperm motility. In conclusion, our findings show that centrally administered AA increases plasma FSH, LH and testosterone levels and sperm motility of conscious male rats. Moreover, according to our findings, central COX-TXA(2) signaling pathway mediates these AA-induced effects.

Retrospective evaluation of pubertal development and linear growth of girls with Turner Syndrome treated with oral and transdermal estrogen
(Walter de Gruyter, 2015-11) Özgür, Taner; Çakır, Esra D. P.; Sağlam, Halil; Eren, Erdal; Tarım, Ömer Faruk; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0003-0710-5422; 0000-0002-1684-1053; C-7392-2019; JPK-3909-2023; JIT-9722-2023; 56966672200; 36113153400; 56966625100
Objective: The objective of the study was to evaluate the pubertal development and linear growth of Turner Syndrome (TS) girls regularly monitored in our department. Patients and methods: The data of 13 patients with TS were evaluated retrospectively. Left hand radiograms were evaluated by three different pediatric endocrinologists to determine bone ages. Results: Six (46.2%) of the TS girls were treated with oral estrogens, while 7 (53.8%) were treated with transdermal estrogen. The ratios of chronological age (CA) difference to bone age (BA) difference (Delta CA/Delta BA) in two groups of patients treated with estrogen were compared at the time of the last control. The Delta CA/Delta BA ratio in the transdermal estrogen-treated group was significantly higher (p=0.005). These results suggest slower BA progression in the TS girls treated with transdermal estrogen. Conclusion: BA advancement is less significant with transdermal estrogen, which is associated with adequate breast development.

Effects of cross-linked high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid on epidural fibrosis: Experimental study
(American Association of Neurological Surgeons, 2015-01) Işık, Semra; Taskapılıoğlu, M. Özgür; Atalay, Fatma Öz; Doğan, Şeref; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-5472-9065; K-6580-2015; AAW-5254-2020; JHC-4482-2023; AAI-6531-2021; 55972140700; 25936798300; 15623010600; 7102693077
OBJECT: Epidural fibrosis is nonphysiological scar formation, usually at the site of neurosurgical access into the spinal canal, in the intimate vicinity of and around the origin of the radicular sheath. The formation of dense fibrous tissue causes lumbar and radicular pain. In addition to radicular symptoms, the formation of scar tissue may cause problems during reoperation. The authors aimed to investigate the effects of cross-linked high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid (HA), an HA derivative known as HA gel, on the prevention of epidural fibrosis by using histopathological and biochemical parameters. METHODS: Fifty-six adult female Sprague-Dawley rats were evaluated. The rats were divided into 4 groups. Rats in the sham group (n = 14) underwent laminectomy and discectomy and received no treatment; rats in the control group (n = 14) underwent laminectomy and discectomy and received 0.9% NaCl treatment in the surgical area; rats in the HA group (n = 14) received HA treatment at the surgical area after laminectomy and discectomy; and rats in the HA gel group (n = 14) underwent laminectomy and discectomy in addition to receiving treatment with cross-linked high-molecular-weight HA in the surgical area. All rats were decapitated after 4 weeks, and the specimens were evaluated histopathologically and biochemically. The results were statistically compared using the Mann-Whitney U-test. RESULTS: Compared with the sham and control groups, the HA and HA gel groups showed significantly lower fibroblast cell density and tissue hydroxyproline concentrations (p < 0.05). There was statistically significant lower dural adhesion and foreign-body reaction between the control and HA gel groups (p < 0.05). Granulation tissue and epidural fibrosis were significantly lower in the HA and HA gel groups compared with the sham group (p < 0.05). There were no significant differences in any histopathological parameters or biochemical values between Groups 3 and 4 (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Cross-linked high-molecular-weight HA had positive effects on the prevention of epidural fibrosis and the reduction of fibrotic tissue density. The efficacy of this agent should also be verified in further experimental and clinical studies.

Effect of moisture on the physical properties of three varieties of kenaf seeds
    (Springer India, 2015-06) İzli, Nazmi; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Biyosistem Mühendisliği Bölümü.; 0000-0002-2084-4660; R-7996-2016; 15848516300
The physical properties of three kenaf varieties were evaluated as a function of moisture contents varying from 7.67 to 26.21, 7.35 to 25.96 and 7.27 to 25.53 % (dry basis) for cv. Everglades, Tainung and SF-459, respectively. The results showed that the increase in the moisture content of the kenaf seeds linearly decreased the bulk density, true density and rupture force, whereas it linearly increased the length, width, thickness, arithmetic mean diameter, geometric mean diameter, sphericity, surface area, seed volume, thousand seed mass, porosity, angle of repose and terminal velocity. Among the three varieties, maximum values for most selected physical properties of kenaf seeds were obtained for the Everglades seeds. At all moisture contents, the highest static coefficient of friction was found on the plywood surface followed by rubber, then galvanized iron, aluminum, glass and finally stainless steel. This study was conducted to investigate some moisture-dependent physical properties of kenaf seeds. These physical properties are necessary for the design of equipments for harvesting, processing, transportation, sorting, separating and packing.
