Abstract
Aztreonam (Azactam) Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Genel Cerrahi Kliniğinde cerrahi enfeksiyonu olan 16 hastada tek antibiyotik olarak kullanıldı. Hastalarda 7'sinde, postoperatif dönemde gelişmiş enfeksiyon vardı, 4 hastada acil cerrahi müdahale esnasında enfeksiyon mevcuttu. Beş hastada ise Aztreonam profilaktik olarak kullanıldı. Doz 15 hastada 12 saatte 1 gr. 1 haftada 8 saatte 0.5 gr. idi ve tüm hastalarda İV yolla uygulandı. On dört hasta klinik şifa, 2 hastada klinik salah elde edildi.
Aztreonam (Azactam) has been used as the sole antibiotic in the surgical clinic of the Medical Faculty of Uludağ University for the treatment of 16 patients with surgical infections. In 7 patients infection had developed in the post-operative period while 4 patients were found to have infection during emergency surgery and Aztreonam has been used as the prophylactic antibiotic in 5 patients. The dosage used was 1 gr. every 12 hours in 15 patients, 0.5 gr. every 8 hours 1 patient. All administrations were made by IV route. Clinical cure was obtained in 14 cases and clinical improvement in 2 cases. No side effects or toxic effets were observed. Our results indicate that Aztreonam, an antibiotic, is an effective and tolerated agent for the treatment of primary or postoperative secondary surgical infections.
