Abstract
The word “yameen” is a word that has more than one meaning in the Arabic language and points to an important concept that has many different dimensions and has gained an institutionalized identity during the fulfillment of the need for coexistence of the Arab society in particular and all societies in the world in general. Therefore, first of all, the article “y-m-n” from which the word “yameen” is derived, together with its derivatives, was subjected to etymological and semantic analysis to determine the root meaning and to reveal the relationship and connection between the words derived from this root and the root meaning; thus, an attempt was made to find the answer to how the meaning of the concept of “yameen” was formed. After discussing the linguistic dimension of the subject, its place in the history of culture is analyzed from different perspectives. The presence of this concept, which was created as a result of human needs and situations, in human culture in general, in Arabic culture in a more limited framework, and in Islamic culture and thought in particular, is analyzed from different angles. Finally, the use of the derivatives of the article “y-m-n” in the Qur'an is examined; how its derivatives and the verses in which they occur are evaluated in the exegetical literature is examined and the meaning of the derivatives of the article “y-m-n” and especially the concept of “yameen” is tried to be clarified.
