Abstract
The Gospels mention that Christ performed many miracles. Among the healing miracles, there are many instances such as the healing of the blind, the lame, and the lepers. Furthermore, the healing of individuals possessed by evil spirits is described in six different narratives. In these miracles where human bodies were possessed by demons, Christ helps the individual by freeing them from the evil spirits. Moreover, in the Miracle of Gadarene, which is included in the four Gospels of Mark, Luke and Matthew, Christ heals the person by removing the evil spirit from the human body and allowing it to enter the herd of swine. The Miracle of the Gadarene has been depicted in Christian Art in manuscripts, wall paintings, mosaics, and minor arts. The scenes were examined in chronological order and separated by subject. Our study on the Miracle of the Gadarene evaluates its depiction in significant works from different periods, according to the Synoptic Gospel narratives, and aims to reveal its place in Christian art.
