Abstract

Toplumlar, varlıklarını millet olarak devam ettirebilmek için tarihlerine dayanmak zorundadırlar. Tarih, birey veya toplumda bir millete mensubiyet bilincini canlı tutar ve onu derinleştirir. Tarih bilinci, geçmişin yorumunu, yaşanan zamanın algılanmasını ve geleceğe ait beklentileri içeren bir bilinç ve farkındalıktır. Sanatçılar, tarihî olayları farklı ve cazip bir hale sokarak okuyucuya sunarlar. Ömer Seyfettin, Peçevî, Nâima ve Hammer gibi tarihçileri okumuş, konusunu tarihten alan hikâyeler yazmıştır. Onun, konusunu tarihten alan hikâyelerinde hareket noktası Türk tarihidir. Ömer Seyfettin’in bu tarz hikâye yazmaktaki amacı yeni bir Türk ruhu oluşturmaktır.

To be able to continue their existence as nations, societies need to base on their own histories. History keeps the sense of belonging to a nation alive in the individual or society and deepens it. The sense of history is a kind of sense or awareness including the interpretation of the past, the perception of the present and the expectations about the future. Artists present historical events to the reader by making them different and catching. Ömer Seyfettin read about such historians as Peçevî, Nâima and Hammer and wrote stories deriving their themes from history.
