dc.description.abstractRenal transplant recipients (RTRs) have increased cardiovascular (CV) risk. Arterial stiffness (AS) contributes to the occurrence of CV disease. We aimed to examine the effect of fluvastatin on CV risk factors and AS in RTRs. Fourteen dyslipidemic RTRs were enrolled. They received daily open-label 80 mg fluvastatin therapy for 6 months. Large (C1) and small (C2) vessel compliances of the radial artery were determined by pulse wave analysis at baseline and after 6 months of treatment with fluvastatin. No significant changes in C1 or C2 measurements were observed. Total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels decreased significantly. Our results suggest that 6-month treatment with fluvastatin in dyslipidemic RTRs was not associated with improvement in AS despite significant improvement of lipid profile.en_US
