Abstract
Muhammed Hamidullah, geçen yüzyılın en önemli İslâm alimlerinden birisi olup, İslâmî ilimlerde –özellikle siyer, hadis ve İslâm hukuku- pek çok eser vermiştir. Onun çalışmalarının sayısı ve çeşitliliği kadar, İslâmî ilimlere getirdiği yeni yorumlar da dikkat çekicidir. Meselâ Hamidullah, siyerde mucize merkezli bir peygamber sunumu yerine, insanî odaklı ve dinî öğretiyi merkeze alan bir peygamber takdimini ortaya koymuştur. Bu makalede müellifin siyer ve İslâm tarihi alanlarındaki eserlerinin kısaca tanıtımlarının yapılması ve onun bu konulara dair orijinal görüşlerinin örneklerle analiz edilmesi hedeflenmektedir.
Muhammad Hamidullah is one of the leading Muslim scholars of the last century who has written on various Islamic sciences including, but not limited to, Siyer, Hadith and Islamic Jurisprudence. Hamidullah is significant not only for the variety and the amount of his publications, but also for the new approaches he brought to the Islamic sciences in general. In the science of Siyer, for instance, instead of presenting Muhammad (pbuh) simply as a miracle-maker prophet, Hamidullah gave emphasis to the human nature of the Prophet beside his prophetic mission. This article attempts to give a brief description of Hamidullah’s books, especially in Siyer and Islamic History. It will also analyze some of his views that are considered both original and novel by giving several examples.
