Abstract
Bu amaçla Hilâl-i Ahmer Sağlık İmdat Heyetleri bölgeye gönderildi. Gönderilenlerden biri de 13. Hilâl-i Ahmer Sağlık İmdat Heyeti idi.
Anatolian lands were surrounded by the Allied States after the First World War. The cities of Bursa and Balıkesir and surrounding areas were some of these occupied lands. The local community went through all kinds of tyranny including slaughter, injury, rape, extortion, and looting. The final military stage of the National Struggle under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Pasha, named the Battle of Dumlupınar (August 26-30, 1922), started the trooping of the Turkish Army towards Western Anatolia. The retreating Greek Army burnt down wherever they could along with barbarism towards the local community. Healing the wounds of people in those lands after the retreat of Greeks was the priority of Turkish organizations. Red Crescent Health Assistance Groups were sent to these fields for this purpose. One of these groups was the 13th Red Crescent Health Assistance Group. The members of this group served in Bandırma, Kirmasti (Mustafakemalpaşa) and Karacabey to meet the necessities of the locals such as food, clothing, shelter, and health in October 1922 and May 1923. The Health Assistance Group, who successfully served under harsh circumstances, won the appreciation of the public and local authorities.
