Kur dalgalanmalarının dış turizm talebi üzerine etkileri

Abstract

Bu tez çalışması, döviz kuru değişimlerinin Türkiye'nin dış turizm talebi üzerine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Döviz kurlarındaki değişmeler, diğer tüm faktörler sabitken seyahat maliyetini azaltan veya arttıran etkendir. Seyahat maliyetinin turizm talebi üzerinde önemli rol oynaması bakımından, döviz kurlarının dış turizm talebini etkileyen bir faktör olarak incelenmesi gerekmektedir. Tez üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Tezin birinci bölümünde turizm kavramı ve turizmin ekonomi üzerine etkileri incelenmiştir. Tezin ikinci bölümünde döviz kuru değişmelerine kavramsal yaklaşım yapılmış daha sonra da döviz kuru değişmeleri ile dış turizm talebi ilişkisi üzerinde durulmuştur. Tezin son bölümünde ise döviz kuru değişmelerinin Türkiye'ye olan dış turizm talebi üzerindeki etkisini belirlemek amacıyla bir araştırmaya yer verilmiştir. Araştırma 1967-2001 döneminde seçilmiş yedi ülkeden Türkiye'ye gelen turist sayısı üzerinde yapılmış ve çoklu regresyon yöntemi kullanılmıştır.

The aim of this thesis is to search for the effect of the exchange rate changes on the foreign tourism demand of Turkey. Exchange rate change is a factor which increases or decreases travel cost while the other factors are consistent. Since the travel cost plays an important role on the tourism demand, the exchange rate changes should be analyzed as a factor that affects the foreign tourism demand. The thesis consists of three sessions. In the first session of the thesis, the concept of tourism and its effects on economy have been analyzed. In the second session, the exchange rate changes as a concept have been discussed and the relation ship between the exchange rate changes and the foreign tourism demand has been explained. In the last session of the thesis, an experimental research has been made to explain the effects of exchange rate changes on foreign tourism demand concerning Turkey. The research has been made on the number of the tourists who came to Turkey between the period 1967 and 2001 multiple regression analysis has been used in the research.
