dc.description.abstractLast two decades the acknowledgement of the importance of failure of gut functions and abdominal complications have become recognized as major contributors to both the morbidity and mortality of critically ill patients. The purpose of this review is to update the knowledge on diarrhea and constipation. Epidomiological data will be discussed with the possible preventive and therapeutic measures.
