Abstract

Neuroretinitis is a rare presentation of cat-scratch disease caused by Bartonella henselae. In this case report, we aimed to describe a 46-year-old male patient who presented with acute visual loss and was diagnosed as neuroretinitis. Fundus examination showed evidence of optic disc edema, macular star, and peripapillary hemorrhagia. The serological tests were positive for Bartonella with both IgM and IgG titers as 1/320. He was successfully treated with doxycycline for eight weeks. Both clinical and serological improvements were observed during the follow-up.
