A multifaceted analysis of the works introduced in the "children's library" category of iyi kitap journal

Abstract

Today, one of the ways of choosing a work and getting information about the newly published works is multimedia, where works are introduced in a multifaceted form. One of the sources published for these purposes in Turkey is "Iyi Kitap (The Good Book) journal", which can be accessed free of charge both in written form and in the electronic environment. Employing the document analysis method, the present study aims to make a multifaceted analysis of the works introduced in the "Children's Library" category of Iyi Kitap Journal in its 89 issues published from 2009 to 2016. All the volumes of the journal were accessible up to the date of the beginning of this study. That is why the research is realized with the target population. Within the scope of the study, the details about the works introduced in the "Children's Library" category of the journal in its 89 issues published from 2009 to 2016 were converted into numerical data. According to the research results, a total of 776 works were introduced; translated works had a higher proportion; the number of pages varied from 10 to 690; Behic Ak's works were most introduced among the works originally written in Turkish while Andreas Steinhofelin's works were most introduced among the translated works; the proportion of picture books varied from 59.74% to 86.45% over the years; and most of the works introduced were published by Tudem, Can, Yapi Kredi, and Gunisigi publishing houses.
