Determination of colour sensitivity of different energy disperse dyes to some dyeing parameters

Abstract

This paper focuses on the comparison of the colour differences and colour sensitivities of different energy level disperse dyes on polyester fabric. The polyester fabric samples were dyed with different energy disperse dyes at changing dyeing parameters and colour sensitivities of the dyeings to changing dyeing conditions were investigated. Dyeing parameters (dyeing temperature, dyeing time and liquor ratio) were changed 10 % from the standard procedure, Colour differences between the standard procedure and modified procedures were measured and colour sensitivities were calculated at different dyeing concentrations. Low energy dyes were found sensitive to dyeing time and liquor ratio changes while high energy dyes were found sensitive to temperature changes. Diffusion and solubility properties of the dyes were considered to change with the changes in the dyeing parameters. Dyebath concentration must be taken into account in the search of low-sensitivity recipes especially with the low and medium energy dyes.
