İslamî kaynaklarda ise ço-ğunlukla emr-i bi’l ma‘rûf nehy-i ani’l münker ilkesi çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır. Kavram lafız ve mana yönüyle ele alınırken “A.r.f.” maddesinin türevlerine yer verilmiştir. Mana yönü aslî, ferî, eş ve zıt anlamlılarıyla incelenmiştir. Ma‘rûfun Kur’ân’daki tahlili ise kav-ramın ilgili âyetlerde özne, nesne ve yüklem konumunda geçen kullanımlarına dayanmaktadır.
Ma'roof is a concept that is expressed as behaviors and thoughts approved by mind and Sharia. While it originally encompassed the general norms of society before Islam, its meaning expanded with the arrival of revelation. The diverse use of the concept in various subjects and styles in the Qur'an has led to a broad literature. In Islamic sources, it is mostly addressed within the framework of the principle of enjoining good and forbidding evil. Commanding good and forbidding evil has become a fundamental principle for Mus-lims due to its imposition of both legal and moral responsibilities. In the first part of the study, Ma'roof is examined in general. Definitions are divided into two subheadings: dictionary and terminological. The general analysis of the concept is based on literature reviews in religious sciences and basic Islamic sciences. The second part of the research consists of the definition of Ma'roof in the Qur'an and its semantic framework. While addressing the concept in terms of both wording and meaning, the root word “A.r.f.” is discussed along with its derivatives. The semantic aspect is examined with its primary, secondary, synonymous, and antonymous meanings. The analysis of Ma'roof in the Qur'an is based on its uses as the subject, object, and predicate in relevant verses.
