Özet
Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are emerging and promising technology both as an alternative treatment to conventional wastewater treatment methods and enhancement of current biological treatment methods especially dealing with highly toxic and low biodegradable wastes. In this paper, the various advanced oxidation processes and their common principles were briefly discussed. In addition, reactors and light sources used most frequently are given in summary. Finally, the application of AOPs to wastewater treatment focusing on some case studies (coloured textile effluent, olive mill effluent, domestic wastewater) is presented.
