Sosyal temsiller teorisinde kontrollü ve otomatik süreçler: Suriyeli mültecilere yönelik temsillerin gruplar arası süreçlerle bağlantılı olarak incelenmesi

Abstract

Sosyal biliş alanındaki farklı yaklaşımların kuramsal ve yöntemsel seviyede entegre edilmesi ile olguların bütüncül bir şekilde ele alınması ile farklı analiz düzeylerinde kapsamlı açıklamalar sunulmasını sağlayacaktır (Augoustinos ve ark., 2014). Bu amaçla İkili Süreç Modelleri ve Sosyal Temsiller Kuramını bir arada ele alan mevcut çalışmada sosyal temsillerin çekirdek alanında otomatik, çevresel alanda ise kontrollü süreçlerin yer aldığı temel hipotezi araştırılmıştır. Mevcut çalışma kapsamında araştırma konusu Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AKP) ve Cumhuriyet Halk Partisini (CHP) destekleyen genç yetişkinlerin Suriyeli mülteci sosyal temsilleri olarak belirlenmiş ve çalışma birbirini izleyen iki çalışma olarak tasarlanmıştır. İlk çalışma kapsamında AKP ve CHP’yi destekleyen genç yetişkinlerin Suriyeli mülteci sosyal temsilleri ve tutumları belirlenmiştir. Bulgular literatürle uyumlu olarak sosyal temsillerin içeriğinin AKP’de dini ve tarihi kimlikle ilişkili olarak, CHP’de hükümet eleştirisi üzerinden oluşturulduğunu göstermektedir. Elde edilen sosyal temsillerin çekirdek ve çevresel alanda yer alan kelimeler kullanılarak ikinci çalışma için bir örtük ölçüm aracı oluşturulmuş ve iki partinin gençlik kollarında çalışan kişilere bu ölçüm aracı uygulanmıştır. Sonuçlar çekirdek alandan çevresel alana gidildikçe sunulan kelimelere verilen tepki sürelerinin ve yanlış tepki verme yüzdesinin arttığını göstermiştir. Gruplar özelinde yapılan analizler sosyal temsil yapılarındaki değişimlerin CHP için beklenen yönde olduğunu, AKP için ise daha farklı yönde gerçekleştiğini belirlemiştir. Tüm bulgular bir arada değerlendirildiğinde bir kavramın otomatik veya kontrollü olarak işlenmesinde bu kavramın sosyal temsilin yapısı içerisinde çekirdek ya da çevresel alanda yer almasının etkili olduğu; bu etkinin görülmesinde ise grup süreçlerinin belirleyici temel bir rolü olduğu fikri desteklenmektedir.Integrating different approaches in the field of social cognition at theoretical and methodological range will provide comprehensive explanations at different levels of analysis by addressing the phenomena in a holistic manner (Augoustinos et al., 2014). For this purpose, the current study, which addresses Dual Process Models and Social Representations Theory together, investigated the basic hypothesis that automatic processes take place in the central core area of social representations and controlled processes in the peripheral area. The current study focused on the Syrian refugee social representations of young adults supporting the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Republican People's Party (CHP) and the study was designed as two consecutive studies. The findings, in line with the literature, show that the content of social representations is formed in relation to religious and historical identity in AKP and through a criticism of government in CHP. An implicit measurement tool was created for the second study by using the words in the core and peripheral areas of the obtained social representations and this measurement tool was applied to people who work in the youth branches of the two parties. The results showed that as one moves from the the core area to the peripheral area, reaction times and the percentage of incorrect responses to presented words increased. The analyses conducted specifically for the groups showed that the changes in the social representation structures were in the expected direction for the CHP, but in a different direction for the AKP. When all the findings are evaluated together, it is supported that the automatic or controlled processing of a concept is affected by whether this concept is located in the core or peripheral area within the structure of the social representation; and that group processes play a fundamental role in determining this effect.
