Retroflexion of the urinary bladder in a dog

Abstract

A three-month-old, male, Turkish Shepherd dog was presented after a motor vehicle accident. Clinical examination findings included multiple hip fractures and a rectal prolapse. Urinary catheterisation did not sample any urine and ultrasonography did not detect a bladder intra-abdominally. Intravenous pyelograms revealed the bladder in the pelvic canal. Surgery was planned to repair the hip fractures and to repose the bladder with cystopexy, but the dog died during initial medical management.
