Dynamic compaction of metal powders with a mathematical formulation among pressure and compaction velocity of powders and compaction distance was analyzed. An attempt was made to get a better understanding of dynamic compaction process with the mechanism governing powder compaction. Some evidence to suggest that increasing the rate of compaction results in a more uniform density distribution, improved green strength and in the case of die compaction, lower compaction forces, were discussed. It was concluded that the adiabatic law can be applied on the compaction process, provided that frictional loss is possibly small, and the process occurs as fast as possible.
