Özet
Thermal osteonecrosis is assumed to be one of the most serious problems of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) based bone cements. This study intends to examine the curing temperature behavior of the 3D randomly distributed fiber reinforced acrylic cements. PET, Kynol™ and Kevlar® fibers varying lengths and amounts were incorporated into PMMA polymer and the change of exothermic temperature and polymerization kinetics of bone cements under the these factors were measured. Two different variables, i.e. maximum exothermic temperature and peak time describing the thermal effect of the cement was analyzed statistically. In addition to that, handling properties of the PMMA cement was evaluated subjectively.
