Abstract

Gravestones were examined by metod such as photographing, estampage, chalking in the graveyard of Gümüşçay Nasuh Çelebi mosque and the inscriptions of the headstones that are engraved in Ottoman Turkish have been latinized by reading at the burial place and digitally. Except rustic stones total of 109 graves between the 12th and 14th centuries based on the Islamic calendar and the general characteristics of each headstones and graves were presented in the first part of the study. According to the calendar the Gregorian calendar, the graves, which belong to 18th 19th and 20th centuries were subjected to typological examination in the second part of the study. While some of the graves have both headstone and footstone, it is understood that only headstone or footstone of some graves have reached today. In the third part of the study, the evaluations of decoration and calligraphy on the inscriptions have been completed.
