Abstract
The increase in individual living spaces and welfare levels, as well as the increasing diversity of housing, has led to an increase in research on housing preference and satisfaction. The housing preferences of users change over time and the satisfaction with the experiences gained after these preferences will be revealed with new research to be conducted. Tiny Houses, which started to attract attention in the world after the economic crisis in the USA in 2008, started to be seen in our country after the Covid-19 pandemic. Interviews with users who prefer Tiny Houses help to understand the nature of this new way of living, which is still in its infancy in our country, and opens the horizon for users who want to experience this life. The satisfaction of the users who prefer Tiny House living is the subject of this study. The purpose of the study is to reveal the main reasons that motivate Tiny House users to prefer this life, to measure their satisfaction levels and to make a comparison, to inspire new users and Tiny House designers, and to contribute to the literature in the context of preference and satisfaction with Tiny House life. Within the scope of the study, a literature review was conducted on the concept of Tiny House and housing, examples of Tiny Houses in the world and in Turkey were examined and in-depth interviews were conducted with 50 Tiny House users identified in the city of Bursa. In order to obtain accurate results with the satisfaction survey, it was ensured that the Tiny House users interviewed in the field study were people who voluntarily preferred this life and owned the property. The data obtained through interviews were analyzed by descriptive analysis and content analysis methods. According to the findings, it was revealed that the most important reason for users to prefer small house life is to spend time in touch with nature after the pandemic. Almost all users are satisfied with Tiny House living. For those who encounter some unexpected difficulties, having a living space in nature can tolerate this situation.
