Genç liberal bireylerin dinin kamusal alandaki görünümüne yaklaşımları üzerine sosyolojik bir araştırma

Abstract

Siyasal düşünce tarihinin merkezinde yer alan birey, toplum ve yönetim ilişkisi her ideolojinin ilgilendiği bir olgudur. Liberal düşüncenin bu üç kavrama yönelik yaklaşımı birey merkezlidir. Bireyin toplum ve yönetim tarafından kısıtlanabilmesinden endişe eden liberalizm, bireyin özgürlüğünü maksimize etme amacındadır. Bu bakımdan toplumsal bir olgu olarak dinin bireyle kurduğu ilişki liberal düşüncenin üzerinde durduğu bir noktadır. Bu amaçla Türkiye’deki liberal bireylerin, dinin kamusal alandaki görünümüne yönelik yaklaşımlarını incelemek önem kazanmaktadır. Nitel araştırma yöntemleri içerisinde yer alan fenomenolojik yönteminin takip edildiği bu çalışmada, dinin kamusal alandaki görünümü bir fenomen olarak ele alınmıştır. Liberal oluşumlarda görev alan 10 genç katılımcıyla, Türkiye’deki din ve kamusal alan ilişkisine dair yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat sorularıyla görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Görüşmelerde edinilen bulgularla, Türkiye’deki liberallerin din olgusuna yönelik düşünce ve yaklaşımları incelenip dinin, toplum ve yönetimle kurduğu ilişki çözümlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Dinin, iktidarların elinde politik bir araç olarak kullanılmasını eleştiren katılımcıların liberal perspektifleriyle, din ve vicdan özgürlüğü merkezli çözümlemelerde bulundukları gözlemlenmiştir. Bu doğrultuda Türkiye’deki kamusal alan ve din ilişkisine yönelik liberal ideolojinin yaklaşımını görebilme imkânı oluşmuştur.

The relationship between individual, society and government, which is at the center of the history of political thought, is the phenomenon that every ideology deals with. The approach of liberal thought towards these three phenomena is individual-centered. Concerned about the individual being restricted by society and government, liberalism aims to maximize the freedom of the individual. In this respect, the relationship between religion and the individual as a social phenomenon is a point emphasized by liberal thought. For this purpose, it becomes important to examine the approaches of liberal individuals in Turkey towards the appearance of religion in the public sphere. In this study, where the phenomenological method, which is among the qualitative research methods, is followed, the appearance of religion in the public sphere is discussed as a phenomenon. Interviews were conducted with 10 young participants working in liberal organizations, using semi-structured interview questions about the relationship between religion and public sphere in Turkey. With the findings obtained from the interviews, the thoughts and approaches of liberals in Turkey towards the phenomenon of religion were examined and the relationship between religion, society and administration was tried to be analyzed. It was observed that the participants, who criticized the use of religion as a political tool in the hands of governments, made analyzes centered on freedom of religion and conscience with their liberal perspectives. In this respect, it was possible to see the approach of liberal ideology towards the relationship between public space and religion in Turkey.
