dc.description.abstractMuammer Sun's works are mostly included in the repertoires of choir lessons. Muammer Sun contributes not only to the musical education of children but also to the education of young people, with many school songs, folk song arrangements, and choral works he composed. In addition, the composer provides great convenience in the selection of works aimed at the targeted gains in choir education with the choir repertoire and the extended chorus repertoire for Youth Choirs books. This study aimed to determine the use of Muammer Sun's works, the works of the composer performed in choir lessons, the selection of works, and the importance of these works in terms of choir education. For this purpose, interviews were held with the choir lecturers working in the music education departments. In the research, in which the phenomenological approach, one of the qualitative research methods, was adopted, the interview method was used as the data collection tool. As a result of the interviews, it was determined that all the lecturers participating in the research benefited from the choral works of Muammer Sun. In addition, it has been stated by the instructors that the composer's works are very suitable for realizing the target behaviors determined in the choir lessons, that the works are suitable, especially in terms of prosody, richness in harmonic terms, ease to learn, introducing polyphony, appealing to students, and reinforcing national feelings.
