Özet

The effects of the woven fabrics’ design parameters on the usage performances are well known, and the problems that may arise during use should be predicted and solved. In this study, the effect of different weft yarn properties, which were used to create a texture effect on the weave pattern, was investigated on the surface abrasion performance of fabrics. For this purpose, controlled jacquard fabric samples woven with different weft yarn properties (yarn linear density and yarn types such as; filament yarn, staple fiber yarn, and textured shrinkage yarn) were used. Results were evaluated by taking microscopic images before and after the abrasion process for different abrasion cycles. These results were also assessed by comparing the surface roughness values of fabric surfaces before and after abrasion. Experimental results showed that yarn properties and amount of yarn crimp affect the abrasion resistance of fabrics.
