Effect of western understanding of art education on the printmaking artists of Turkey

Abstract

Before and during the Republic period, it is possible to see the effects of art education that the artists who composes some work of art in our country, took from the West in the printmaking field like many fields of the plastic arts. Academic art education history of the artists who create some Works of art in the field of printmaking is the indicator of this situation. This sense of art seems to affect the contents of lessons of the academies and the institutes, which are opened in the field of art education in Turkey, the academicians and the artists as well. Turkish artists, who become valuable for the academies of Turkey after the education they took in the West, trained the following artists and contributed to the Turkish art. There were some modernization movements in Turkish art with the students sent to France in order to take academic education in art especially during the Ottoman and Republic period. With this research, description and development stages of printmaking art will be explained and the reflections of printmaking for the academic art education in our country will be mentioned. Besides, it is aimed that the developments of printmaking art at Turkish academies and also productivity effect of Turkish printmaking artist who educated in the West in the scope of this research.
