A standardized treatment algorithm for ACL rupture may not be suitable for everybody because individuals may present with different characteristics. Social and physiological differences and different injury patterns necessitate an individualized treatment plan. This chapter focuses on factors such as gender, age, work and activity level, osteoarthritis, chronicity, associated lesions, anatomy, and tear morphology to develop an individualized approach to ACL rupture. A thorough understanding of these factors is necessary to develop an individualized algorithm, both for diagnosis and treatment of ACL rupture.
