Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the possibility of using soils taken from olive orchards in Bursa region by using 1:2 (v/v) volume extraction method in determining pH, EC and some available nutrient content. In the study, 50 olive orchards were determined in Gemlik, Iznik, Mudanya and Orhangazi districts of Bursa. A total of 100 composed soil samples taken from 0 - 30 cm and 30 - 60 cm depths from those orchards in early spring, 50 leaf samples taken in January and 50 fruit samples taken at harvest maturity were the research materials. The relations between pH, EC and some available nutrient elements contents determined in 1:2 (v/v) extracts in olive growing soils were compared with the current standard routine analysis methods and the relations between the nutrient contents of the test plants were evaluated. According to the results of the research; statistically significant relationships were determined between available nutrient element contents determined by current analysis methods and nutrient element contents determined in 1:2 (v/v) extract P, K, Ca, Na, Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn and B. It was observed that there were significant correlations between the contents of K, Mn and Cu in the leaves and their contents in the soil, while it was observed that there were significant relations between the contents of Fe, Zn, Mn, B, K and Na in the fruit and the contents in soil. It has been seen that 1:2 (v/v) volume extraction method could be used as an alternative to the existing routine analysis methods in soil analyzes and it gives good results especially in soils contained high organic matter, but it has been evaluated that the results were different from each other in mineral and other soils. However, by using the method, it has been seen that the available nutrient content of the soils could be determined at lower cost and in a shorter time.
