Abstract

The objective of this study is to show the importance of Kandinsky for today's applied education of art basics. 976 works by 50 art students, created by using the Adobe Illustrator CS6 software in the class "Art and Technology I" given by Asst. Prof. Sezin Türk Kaya from the Painting Department of Faculty of Fine Arts in Uludag University, have been determined as an example group to review. During the study, it has made use of the methods of a literature survey, review and comparison as data collection tools. The students' works have been analysed and their painterly characteristics have been compared with Kandinsky's disciplines and practices in terms of style and content. It has been found that Kandinsky's disciplines scrutinising the relations of geometrical elements with plane and with each other are being utilised in today's art education. After the comparison between the practices, it also has been found that their abstracting methods and their practical purposes are different.
