Osteoid osteoma of the sternum

Abstract

We present a case of osteoid osteoma found in an unusual location: the sternum. Osteoid osteoma of the sternum has not been published up to now. Except for its location, this case presented a classic history of osteoid osteoma producing night pain relieved by nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drugs. Radiological examination typically shows radiolucent nidus within the affected bone. The plain radiographies are not always diagnostic in terms of nidus appearance, as happened in our case. © Springer-Verlag 2005.
