Özet

This article aims to examine the performance of an aerobic sequential batch reactor in treating real textile wastewater under various hydraulic retention times. The proposed system was operated under various hydraulic retention times, and their effects on the removal efficiency of chemical oxygen demand, color, aromatic amines, and organic compounds from the woolen textile wastewater industry were investigated. The initial concentration of chemical oxygen demand and color was 1000 mg/L and 1000 American Dye Manufacturer's Institute, respectively. Aerobic sequential batch reactor application showed that chemical oxygen demand removal was almost between 86.6 and 90.1% with a slight increase of 4% when the hydraulic retention times were increased from 12 to 48 h, while the color removal was ranged from 62.44 to 77.78% when the hydraulic retention time varied between 12 and 48 h. Chromatographic analysis indicated that aromatic amines are biodegradable under aerobic conditions; simultaneously, the accumulation of aromatic amines on sludge increased by decreasing hydraulic retention times. Moreover, the GC-MS/MS analyses indicated that most of the organic compounds were removed after treating the textile wastewater with the aerobic sequential batch reactor.
