Cancer and leukemia in the history of medicine

Abstract

In this paper, human's endeavor to overcome cancer for centuries and historical development regarding definition and treatment of leukemia in this endeavor are emphasized according to Auguste Comte's expression, "A science can be known only if its history is known". Another reason to mention the historical development of leukemia is a thought that it can be facilitated to understand better disease's effects on patient-physician relationship, in which cannot be provided success always in the treatment along with increasing the probability of cure.
