Helminth Parasites of Garfish, Belone belone (Linnaeus, 1761) (Actinopterygii: Belonidae) from Eskihisar coast, the Sea of Marmara, Turkey

Abstract

In this study, we aimed to identifiy the helmint fauna of Garfish, Belone belone (Linnaeus, 1761), population from Eskihisar Coast, the Sea of Marmara. Fifty eight speciemens (25 males, 33 females) were examined for helminthes. As a result, it was detected that B. belone harboured 3 helminth species: Lecithostaphylus retroflexus (Molin, 1859) (Digenea), Axine belones Abildgaard, 1794 (Monogenea) and Hysterothylacium aduncum (Rudolphi, 1802) (Nematoda).
