The effects of STZ (200mg/kg i.p). induced diabetes on testis and semen quality was evaluated in 8-week-adult male mice. The results of the Spearman Correlation tests showed that as blood glucose levels increased, weights of testes, seminiferous tubule diameters and motility decreased, however testicular vessel number and total morphological defects of sperm increased. Important morphological differences in testes were detected only at 15th day and 3rd weeks. Vacuolization and desquamation of the degenerated germ cells in the seminiferous tubules were observed histologically. It was observed that Leydig cells were smaller in experimental group. In conclusion, diabetes, causes significant changes on testis morphology and oligozoospermia in mice.
