This study examines the acid dye printing properties of cotton that has been cationized with 2,3-epoxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride. Six different dyes were used to print the cationized cotton fabrics. Cationic reagent concentration, steaming time, color yields, fastness properties, and staining of the white background were evaluated. The number of sulfonate groups and the molecular weight of the dye were found to be major influences on the successful printing of cationized cotton.
