Abstract

In the present study, various amide-based, sulfur-containing nonionic surfactants were synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods. The corrosion inhibition properties of these synthesized compounds were investigated. For this purpose, mild steel coupons were immersed for 24 hours at room temperature in 1 M HCl containing different concentrations of inhibitor according to the standard method. As a result of these corrosion tests, the synthesized compounds exhibited excellent inhibitory properties (76.58-93.74 IE%). Surface characterization studies were also performed for the metal coupons to support the obtained corrosion inhibition efficiency results.
