Özet
This study examines diverse perspectives on incorporating extended flute techniques into music education. Extended flute techniques refer to methods that produce novel sounds and effects, transcending traditional flute-playing techniques. The development of these techniques gained momentum with the modernization of the flute in the 20th century, introducing innovations such as the jet whistle, tongue rams, and microtones. While the prevailing view in the literature suggests that these techniques are best suited for advanced students, some educators argue that introducing them alongside basic techniques at an early stage may offer significant benefits. In Turkiye, significant deficiencies have been identified in the teaching of extended flute techniques, including a lack of resources and instructional materials in Turkish. These limitations pose pedagogical challenges, particularly when teaching beginner students. To address these challenges, this study proposes the development of an instructional module designed to teach extended flute techniques effectively. The research underscores the importance of integrating extended flute techniques into early music education and outlines the framework for the proposed instructional project.
