Item Generation of infectious and non-infectious waste in abbottabad, Pakistan(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2009) Yaqub, Asim; Mushtaq, Nida; Asim, Huma; Pervez, Arshid; Awais, Muhammad; Khan, Zahid MehmoodThis study is mainly concerned with the generation of solid waste and its management in the Ayub Medical Complex (AMC) Abbottabad. The hospital serves approximately 1600 to 1800 patients daily. This study provides the estimates of the quantity of different kinds of solid wastes produced and the current solid waste management situation at the hospital. The results indicate that approximate rate of solid waste generation is 464.7 kg day-1, which includes about 37.4 kg day-1i-e 8% of infectious solid waste, and 427.3 kg day-1i-e 92% of non-infectious waste. Besides this, the achievements of this study include the statistical data of solid waste on daily basis from all the departments, which was collected by the sampling at the point of generation. The mean generation rates were found to be 1.04 kg per patient per day. According to the results the highest waste generation of solid waste was observed in Gynae department that was nearly 118 kg day-1and lowest waste was observed in Psychiatry that was almost 0.2 kg day-1.Item Taxonomic investigations on the epiphytic lichens on quercus sp. of Uludag (Bursa – Turkey)(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2009) Tore, Burcu Kıymet; Ozturk, Sule; Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi; Biyoloji BölümüIn this study, 85 lichen taxa belonging to 34 genera and 15 families were determined from 772 lichen samples collected from 30 stations from 06.06.2004 to 24.05.2006. Seven lichen taxa for Bursa are new records. The epiphytic lichen taxa are collected from Quercus cerris L. var. cerris, Quercus frainetto Ten., Quercus infectoria Oliver subsp. infectoria, Quercus petraea (Mattuschka) Liebl. subsp. iberica, Quercus petraea (Mattuschka) Liebl. subsp. petraea, Quercus pubescens Willd. and Quercus robur L. subsp. robur L. which spread all over Uludag. The aims of this study is to investigate the epiphytic lichen diversity based on their substrate specificity that are grown on the Quercus species in Uludag mountain. The different epiphytic lichen species from different Quercus taxa at the same locality or same substrat at the different locality were determined. From these results, we think that the various properties of substrats change at the different levels because of the environment factors and this changing is effected the diversity and composition of the epiphytic lichen species on Quercus taxa.Item The crab spiders (Araneae, Thomisidae) of Uludağ Mountain(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2009) Yılmaz, Zeyhan; Uğurtaş, İsmail Hakkı; Kaya, Rahşen S.; Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi; Biyoloji BölümüThe crab spiders, Family Thomisidae, were collected between the years of 2006-2008 from the Uludağ Mountain, North-West Turkey. A total of 72 adult specimens belong to Thomisidae family were examined and identified. The Thomisidae family was represented by 15 species in 8 genera. Synema globosum (Fabricius, 1775) and Thomisus onustus Walckenaer, 1805 were the most dominant species among collected thomisids.Item A microbiological evaluation on the ready-to-eat red meat and chicken donair kebabs from a local catering company in Bursa(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2009) Yuksek, Nur; Evrensel, Surreya Saltan; Temelli, Seran; Anar, Sahsene; Sen, M. K. Cem; Teknik Bilimler Meslek Yüksekokulu; Gıda Hijyeni ve Teknolojisi BölümüThis study was performed to evaluate the microbiological quality of the ready-to-eat red meat and chicken donairs from a catering company in Bursa. Samples were examined for total aerobic mesophilic bacteria, coliforms, Escherichia coli (E. coli), enterococci, staphylococci, coagulase positive staphylococci, and Salmonella spp. Temperatures used in this company were found sufficient for donair surface cooking. The collection tray and the personnel hands were determined as the main cross and/or post contamination sources for the donair ready for service.
