Effects of functional feed additives on total antioxidant status, lipid peroxidation and blood ındicators of Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica)
(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2016-04-08) Vahdatpour, Tohid; Monadi-Sefidan, Alireza; Maheri-Sis, Naser; Sandoghchian-Shotorbani, Siamak
The purpose of present research was to investigate effects of a probiotic, a prebiotic and two synbiotics consumption on total antioxidant (TAO) capacity, malondialdehyde (MDA) level, percentages of heterophils, lymphocytes, heterophils /lymphocytes (H/L) ratio as a stress indicator, and albumin, globulin and albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio as a oncotic pressure indicator of blood in Japanese quails. The experimental diets consisted of a basal diet without additive (control), protexin® as a probiotic, fermacto® as a prebiotic, mixed of protexin® and fermacto® as a synbiotic, and Biomin-IMBO® as a other synbiotic, were added to the basal diet and with water were available ad libitum from 1 to 42 days of age of quails. The consumption of these additives had not significant effect on TAO capacity in females and on MDA in both genders, but consumption of prebiotic caused enhancement of TAO capacity of males (P<0.05). The H/L ratio of females fed by additives especially Biomin-IMBO® were lower comparison to control group (P<0.05). The blood albumin was enhanced in males fed by additives especially mixed of protexin® and fermacto® as synbiotic (P<0.05). The A/G ratio was increased by consumption of additives especially with each two synbiotics (P<0.05). The results show that the combination of probiotic and prebiotic as synbiotic is benefit additive for quails feeding. The synergetic effects of synbiotics in improving of live benefit microbial, absorption of necessary nutrients and providing of suitable environment in the gastrointestinal tract are important for health of blood indicators in Japanese quails.

The effects of ıntramuscular ınjections of vitamin b12 on production performance of dairy cows in early lactation fed dietary supplements of rumen-protected methionine
(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2016-04-08) Safarkhanlou, Morteza; Maheri-Sis, Naser; Ebrahimnezhad, Yahya; Salamatdoust Nobar, Ramin
To study the effects of rumen-protected methionine and vitamin B12 as well as their interactions on production performance of dairy cows in early lactation, 16 Holstein cows in early lactation in experiment with randomized complete block design with the 2×2 factorial arrangement used for 42 days. In this experiment, there were four treatments, which in each treatment is placed two cows primiparous and two cows multiparous. Treatments included: 1) The group receiving the basal diet, 2) The group receiving the basal diet with vitamin B12 injections, 3) The group receiving the basal diet with rumen-protected methionine, 4) The group receiving the basal diet with vitamin B12 injections and rumen-protected methionine. The results showed that in the use of vitamin B12 and rumen protected methionine, there is no significant difference between the experimental groups in the dry matter intake, milk production, energy corrected milk, 4% fat corrected milk, fat, protein, lactose, solids, solids-non-fat and urea. Analysis of variance showed that the experimental unit in the second and sixth weeks of experiment there were statistically significant differences in dry matter intake. Use of vitamin B12 can increase the milk production in early lactation, but this increase was not significant and in the case of vitamin B12 associated with methionine this effect is more evident.

Poly-β-hyroxybutyrate production by root nodule ısolates of wild vicia faba
(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2016-05-25) Küçük, Çiğdem; Cevheri, Cenap
Poly-β-hyroxybutyrate is a common bacterial polymer. It has been ecofriendly and best alternative biopolymer against environmental pollution. In this study, the poly-β-hyroxybutyrate (PHB) contents of Rhizobium isolates from isolated wild Vicia faba were studied in the media used by a spectrophotometric technique. The dry cell weights and PHB production of isolates were different. The production of PHB by 18 isolates ranged between 0.006-0.720 g/l with a productivity of 0.273-19.3 (%). B7 isolate produced more PHB than the other isolates.

Effects of hatching egg weight and length of storage period on hatching success in pekin ducks
(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2016-05-31) Alpay, Fazli; Petek, Metin; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/Zootekni Bölümü.
This study was carried out to investigate the effects of hatching egg weight and length of storage period on egg weight loss, hatchability performance and incubation length of Pekin ducks. Eggs were classified into 3 groups on the basis of egg weight such as small, medium, and large. Then, the eggs in each group were further divided into 3 storage period treatments (5, 10, or 15 days). At the end of the storage period eggs were weighted individually to determine egg weight loss. Hatching time, apparent fertility, hatchability of total and fertile eggs, and embryonic mortality were determined to measured hatching success. Egg weight loss during the storage period significantly affected by egg weight and length of storage period (P < 0.001, P < 0.05). Differences for the hatching time, apparent fertility, hatchability of total and of fertile eggs, embryonic mortality in the storage period groups were found significant (P < 0.001). The results of this study showed that effects of the hatching egg weight and length of storage on hatchability was similar to other kind of poultry. In general, hatchability was more affected by length of egg storage period.

Correlation and path coefficient analysis of yield and yield components in hexaploid triticale (X Triticosecale Wittmack) genotypes under mediterranean conditions
(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2016-04-08) Dogan, Ramazan; Senyigit, Emre; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Tarla Bitkileri Bölümü.
During the 2004-05 and 2005-06 vegetation periods, a study was conducted to determine the suitable selection criteria in triticale breeding for higher yields in Bursa ecological conditions. To this end, path and correlation coefficient analyses were applied to 22 triticale genotypes. Field trials were performed in a randomized block design, with three replications. According to the results, the relationships between the grain yield and all of its components were significant and positive. The results of the path coefficient analysis indicated that the grain number spike-1 , thousand kernel weight and test weight had the highest direct effects on the grain yield, whereas the plant height and spikelet number spike-1 were positive but less direct effects. In addition, the spike length had negative and low direct effects, whereas the grain weight spike-1 had negative and high direct effects on the grain yield. The results suggest that the grain number spike-1 , thousand kernel weight and test weight are primary selection criteria for higher grain yields in triticale.

Growth performance of Kivircik lambs fed different silages
(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2016-05-02) Koyuncu, Mehmet; Canbolat, Onder; Altincekic, Seniz Ozis; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Zootekni Bölümü.
The experiment with 36 male growing Kivircik lambs, the effect of maize silages supplementation on growing performance and ruminal fermentation was determined. In the 56 days experiment, lambs were allocated to 3 treatments group (Control, MS-1 and MS-2) of 12 lambs each. The three group consisted of concentrate alone (control), 25% maize silages supplemented with concentrate (MS-1) and 50% maize silage supplemented with concentrate (MS-2). Diet had a significant daily weight gain (P<0.05). Inclusion of maize silages in diets did not alter significantly dry matter intake and feed conversion. Rumen fluid pH and butyric acid were increased by maize silage levels (P<0.05).
