    Effect of supplementation with lemon (Citrus lemon) pomace powder on the growth performance and antioxidant responses in common carp (Cyprinus carpio)

    This study was aimed to investigate beneficial effects of lemon pomace powder (peel and pulp), on growth performance and antioxidant responses in common carp. Fish were divided randomly into four groups of 30 each. Group 1 fish were fed with basic diet, serving asthe control. Fish in group 2, 3 and 4 were fed the basic diet supplemented with 1.5%, 3% and 5% lemon pomace powder, respectively. Results showed that the values of glutathione peroxidase (GPX), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH) inerythrocyte hemolysate were significantly increased in all of the treatment groups compared with the control (P<0.05). Significantly lower level of plasma malondialdehyde (MDA) concentrations were observed in fish receiving 5% lemon powder. Ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) values increased significantly as compared to control and the most increase was observed in group 4 whichreceived 5% lemon pomace. No significant differences were found in plasma values of total protein, albumin, bilirubin, urea, lactatede hydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase, alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase among the experimental groups. Fishthat were fed diet supplemented with 3% and 5% of lemon pomace powder displayed improved growth performance including final weight, weight gain, feed conversion ratio and specific growth rate. These data suggest that supplementation of lemon pomace powder can be effective in improving the antioxidant capacity and growth performance in common carp.

    Ecovillage design and applicability to Akçalar district of Bursa

    Today, with the change in consumption habits, the decrease in natural resources causes concerns about meeting future generations of these resources. Ecovillages, which are the representatives of self-sufficient life culture and ensuring the sustainability of natural resources, stand out as an important initiative in preserving the natural balance and ensuring a sustainable nature-human relationship. In this study, successful ecovillage initiatives in the world and our country have been examined, and the applicability of ecovillage in Akçalar District, located in the Nilufer-Bursa, has been evaluated in terms of the biogas energy potential that can be obtained from animal wastes. It has been determined that 730 cattle waste in the farms located in the neighborhood, which is developed in animal production, have a daily biogas potential of 1505.625 m³. This potential in electricity generation can be provided annual electrical energy of 2547517.5 kWh.

    Molecular characterization of the mycorrhizae and other root associated fungi abundance of some crop plants grown in Kano, Nigeria

    This work looked into the molecular characterization of crop plants grown in Kano, North-Western Nigeria. This was aimed at finding what class of mycorrhizal fungi is associated with these crops for better understanding of the plant ecosystem. This was done using DNA extraction and Polymerase chain reaction techniques. Sequence results were associated to the Ascomycota and Mucuromycota Division. Fungal isolates identities were above 85% and were recognized to be Rhizopus microsporus, Fusarium oxysporum and Sodaria spp.

    Box-Jenkins methodology of analysis and forecast prices of peach with prices in Turkey

    Due to global climate changes, the increasing population and some disruptions in production, the prices of products in domestic and foreign markets may vary over the years. Since the production of agricultural products is directly dependent on natural conditions, it is highly affected by these price fluctuations. In order to survive as a producer and to adapt to changing conditions, market conditions must be constantly monitored, always prepared and future situation analyzes must be made. Various methods and models have been developed to make such future time estimation analysis. One of the most widely used methods is the Box-Jenkins method. In the study; With the help of time series analysis modeling, it is aimed to analyze the export price changes of peach product by years and to predict the future price by modeling with the Box-Jenkins method, which is the most widely used modeling method. Research from the scope of the years 1967-2020 constitute rates peaches Turkey exports. ARIMA (3,1,3) model, one of the Box-Jenkins models, was used in the application. According to the results obtained; When the export prices expected to be made in 2021 after 2020 in our country are compared among themselves; Compared to 2020, export revenues expected to be achieved in 2021 are expected to increase by approximately %10. A steady increase movement is predicted for the next decade. At the end of the next decade, it is estimated that prices will increase by approximately %64 in 2030 compared to 2020.

    Performance, egg quality and some blood biochemical parameters in laying hens exposed to chronic heat stress affected by feed rationing

    This study was performed to investigate the effects of feed rationing on laying performance, egg quality and some blood biochemical parameters in laying hens exposed to chronic heat stress. A total of 640 (Lohmann LSL-Lite White egg layers, 50 weeks of age) were placed into the cages as 4 feeding rationing treatments with 4 replicates (n = 40 hens/cage). The dietary treatment groups were assigned as control feeding (ad-libitum, CF), daily once morning feeding (102 g feed, DMF), daily once evening feeding (102 g feed, DEF), daily twice feeding (morning and evening 51 g feed, DTF). The egg production was the highest in DMF and DEF groups during the experimental period. Higher egg weight was observed in CF (62.8 g) and DMF (61.1 g) between 51-55 weeks, also egg weight was the highest in CF (63.2 g, P<0.05) between 56-60 weeks. The best feed conversion rate was observed in the DTF group (1.66 between 51-55 weeks and 1.80 between 56-60 weeks of age, P<0.01). At 60 weeks of age, the highest level of total cholesterol, AST, ALT, and H/Lratio were higher in the control group. It could be concluded that feed rationing could be beneficial to alleviate the negative impacts of heat stress on laying performance, egg quality and stress level of hens in comparison with ad-libitum feeding.
