Özellikle toplumumuza özgü atlasın bir an önce hazırlanması gerektiği sonucuna varıldı.Publication 21st-century skills as predictors of pre- service teachers' professional qualifications: A cross-sectional study(Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi, 2023-01-01) Yurt, Eyüp; YURT, EYÜP; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi; 0000-0003-4732-6879; JPK-4403-2023This study aimed to determine the impact of teacher candidates' 21st-century skills on their professional competence by controlling for gender, grade level, and income status. Three hundred eighty teacher candidates from different classes and departments were selected to participate in the study. The data obtained using the Multidimensional 21st-Century Skills and Professional Competence Scales were analyzed using the structural equation modeling method. The results indicate that teacher candidates' 21st-century skills positively affect their professional competence when controlling for gender, grade level, and income status. The findings emphasize the importance of pre-service teachers for their future careers to have 21st-century skills such as information and technology literacy, critical thinking and problem-solving, entrepreneurship and innovation, social responsibility and leadership, and career consciousness. It has been concluded that teacher training programs should be designed to support teacher candidates in acquiring 21st-century skills and developing their professional competencies.Publication 2d Temperature analysis of energy and exergy characteristics of laminar steady flow across a square cylinder under strong blockage(MDPI, 2015-05-01) Korukçu, Mehmet Özgün; KORUKÇU, MEHMET ÖZGÜN; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Mühendislik Fakültesi/Makine Mühendisliği Bölümü; JAO-3455-2023Energy and exergy characteristics of a square cylinder (SC) in confined flow are investigated computationally by numerically handling the steady-state continuity, Navier-Stokes and energy equations in the Reynolds number range of Re = 10-50, where the blockage ratio ( = B/H) is kept constant at the high level of = 0.8. Computations indicated for the upstream region that, the mean non-dimensional streamwise (u/U-o) and spanwise (v/U-o) velocities attain the values of u/U-o = 0.8400.879 and v/U-o = 0.2360.386 (Re = 1050) on the front-surface of the SC, implying that Reynolds number and blockage have stronger impact on the spanwise momentum activity. It is determined that flows with high Reynolds number interact with the front-surface of the SC developing thinner thermal boundary layers and greater temperature gradients, which promotes the thermal entropy generation values as well. The strict guidance of the throat, not only resulted in the fully developed flow character, but also imposed additional cooling; such that the analysis pointed out the drop of duct wall (y = 0.025 m) non-dimensional temperature values () from = 0.3870.926 (Re = 1050) at x(th) = 0 mm to = 0.0020.266 at x(th) = 40 mm. In the downstream region, spanwise thermal disturbances are evaluated to be most inspectable in the vortex driven region, where the temperature values show decrease trends in the spanwise direction. In the corresponding domain, exergy destruction is determined to grow with Reynolds number and decrease in the streamwise direction (x(ds) = 010 mm). Besides, asymmetric entropy distributions as well were recorded due to the comprehensive mixing caused by the vortex system.Publication 30 years retrospective review of tuberculosis cases in a tuberculosis dispensary in Bursa/Nilufer, Turkey (1985-2014): Changes of epidemics(Mattioli 1885, 2016-10-23) Özgüç, Sedef; Yıldız, Timur; Pala, Kayıhan; Gerçek, Harika; Taş, Tuncay Aydın; Çakır, Rukiye; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Halk Sağlığı Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0002-0983-4904; 0000-0002-3816-4874; F-7816-2013; 6603159416; 36543842000; 57193114540; 56414706200Objective: The aim of this study is to describe the epidemiological and clinical aspects of patients who applied to the Bursa Nilufer Tuberculosis Dispensary by investigating the trends in epidemics over three decades. Method: In this retrospective observational study, the records of all tuberculosis cases (1630 patients) treated in the last 30 years (1985-2014) at the Bursa Nilufer Tuberculosis Dispensary were examined and statistically analyzed. Results: Males comprised 65.2% of the patients. The ages of the patients ranged from 1 to 87 years, and the mean age was 37.4 (95% CI: 36.6-38.2). Among the cases, 86.7% were new infections and 74.1% were pulmonary tuberculosis. In the last decade, the education level, the percentage of patients who had received a BCG vaccination, the proportion of women and active employees among them increased (p<0.05), while it decreased among men (p<0.05). Clinical symptoms accompanying TB such as weakness, anorexia, weight loss, and cough, decreased to a statistically significant degree (p<0.05). In the last decade, the mortality rate was 3.6% and increased compared with previous decades (p<0.05). Mortality was higher among patients who were elderly, male, did not have a BCG scar or had a chronic disease (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study adds information about the change of TB epidemics in Turkey in the last 30 years. Further studies are needed to determine the risk factors associated with tuberculosis mortality and to evaluate the effectiveness control programs of this disease.Publication 5′ MLL gene deletion in a case with childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia(Oxford University, 2010-02) Gülten, Tuna; Yakut, Tahsin; Güneş, Adalet Meral; Demirkaya, Metin; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Tıbbi Genetik Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; 6505944216; 6602802424; 24072843300; 24331130000Myeloid/lymphoid leukemia (MLL) gene rearrangements are high risk cytogenetic characteristics of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Translocations of this gene are well defined, and their impact on the patient's prognosis is well known, but deletions of the same region are rare, and little is known about their prognostic significance and the significance of their accompanying translocations. Here we present a case of childhood ALL with a deletion of the 5' region of the MILL gene detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis, This result also confirmed the sensitivity and efficiency of FISH analysis.Item 5. The family of 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatases (PFKFB1-4) are well established regulators of glucose metabolism via their synthesis of fructose-2,6-bisphosphate (F2,6BP), a potent allosteric activator of 6-phosphofructo-1-kinase (Pfk-1). PFKFB3 is overexpressed in human cancers, regulated by HIF-1 alpha, Akt and PTEN, and required for the survival and growth of multiple cancer types. Although most functional studies of the role of PFKFB3 in cancer progression have invoked its well-recognized function in the regulation of glycolysis, recent observations have established that PFKFB3 also traffics to the nucleus and that its product, F2,6BP, activates cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks). In particular, F2,6BP stimulates the Cdk-mediated phosphorylation of the Cip/Kip protein p27 (threonine 187), which in turn results in p27's ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. As p27 is a potent suppressor of the G1/S transition and activator of apoptosis, we hypothesized that the known requirement of PFKFB3 for cell cycle progression and prevention of apoptosis may be partly due to the ability of F2,6BP to activate Cdks. In this study, we demonstrate that siRNA silencing of endogenous PFKFB3 inhibits Cdk1 activity, which in turn stabilizes p27 protein levels causing cell cycle arrest at G1/S and increased apoptosis in HeLa cells. Importantly, we demonstrate that the increase in apoptosis and suppression of the G1/S transition caused by siRNA silencing of PFKFB3 expression is reversed by co-siRNA silencing of p27. Taken together with prior publications, these observations support a model whereby PFKFB3 and F2,6BP function not only as regulators of Pfk-1 but also of Cdk1 activity, and therefore serve to couple glucose metabolism with cell proliferation and survival in transformed cells.Publication A case of a complete atrioventricular canal defect in a ferret(Bmc, 2021-01-22) Agudelo, Carlos F.; Jekl, Vladimir; Hauptman, Karel; Crha, Michal; Kocatürk, Meriç; KOCATÜRK, MERİÇ; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/İç Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-8320-1286; 0000-0002-2849-1222; V-5578-2017BackgroundAtrioventricular canal defect is a rare congenital disorder of the heart and describes the presence of an atrial septal defect, a variable presentation of ventricular septal alterations including ventricular septal defect malformations in the mitral and tricuspid valves. The defect has been described in human beings, dogs, cats, pigs, and horses.Case presentationThis paper describes the case of a complete atrioventricular canal defect in a four-year-old intact male pet ferret (Mustela putorius furo), which was presented due to posterior weakness, ataxia, and decreased appetite. A loud systolic murmur, dyspnea, and hind limb paraparesis were detected during the clinical examination. Thoracic radiographs showed generalized cardiomegaly and lung edema. ECG showed sinus rhythm with prolonged P waves and QRS complexes. Echocardiography showed a large atrial septal defect, atrioventricular dysplasia, and a ventricular septal defect. Palliative treatment with oxygen, furosemide, spironolactone, enalapril, diltiazem, and supportive care was chosen as the therapy of choice. The ferret recovered gradually during hospitalization. A follow-up examination at three and six months showed stabilization of cardiac function.ConclusionsTo the authors knowledge, this is the first time an atrioventricular canal defect has been described in a pet ferret.Publication A case of adrenal mass causing adrenal insufficiency: Tuberculosis(Aves, 2017-03-01) Şişman, Pınar; Peynirci, Hande; Saraydaroğlu, Özlem; Sahin, Ahmet Bilgehan; Gül, Özen Öz; Ersoy, Canan; Şişman, Pınar; Peynirci, Hande; SARAYDAROĞLU, ÖZLEM; ŞAHİN, AHMET BİLGEHAN; ÖZ GÜL, ÖZEN; ERSOY, CANAN; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Endokrinoloji ve Metabolizma Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Patoloji Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/İç Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0002-7846-0870; AAM-4927-2020; AAH-9701-2021; AAI-1005-2021; AAH-8861-2021; GRY-0605-2022; DUS-9872-2022Tuberculosis, the prevalence of which has continued to decline in developed countries, is still one of the reasons of adrenal insufficiency. In this report, we aimed to present a case of adrenal and miliary tuberculosis presenting with adrenal insufficiency. A 71-year-old woman with a history of unilateral adrenalectomy was admitted with the symptoms of adrenal insufficiency. In her further medical investigations, the diagnosis of primary adrenal insufficiency was established and a mass presenting as involvement of tuberculosis was detected in the adrenal gland. Bilateral pulmonary nodules compatible with miliary tuberculosis were observed. After anti-tuberculosis treatment, pulmonary nodules disappeared, but there was no significant decrease in the size of the adrenal mass. The patient, who underwent adrenalectomy, was followed with glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid treatment. Tuberculosis of the adrenal glands is a common cause of adrenal insufficiency in developing countries. Tuberculosis can destroy the adrenal glands and the diagnosis of adrenal tuberculosis, especially presenting with enlargement of the adrenal glands, can be difficult.Publication A case of confluent and reticulated papillomatosis treated with a combination of topical calcipotriol and tretinoin(Wolters Kluwer Medknow Publications, 2013-12-01) Turan, Ayşegül; Başkan, Emel Bülbül; Turan, Hakan; Adım, Şaduman Balaban; Sarıcaoğlu, Hayriye; BÜLBÜL BAŞKAN, EMEL; BALABAN ADIM, ŞADUMAN; SARICAOĞLU, HAYRİYE; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Deri ve Zührevi Hastalıklar Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Patoloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0002-0144-3263 ; AAH-1388-2021; EMN-0789-2022; DPU-8534-2022Confluent and reticulated papillomatosis (CRP) is a dermatosis first described by Gougerot and Carteaud. It is proposed to occur as a result of abnormal host response to Pityrosporum ovale or to be a keratinization disorder. Clinically, brownish hyperkeratotic, reticular papules and plaques which tend to coalesce are seen on seborrheic areas. A 16-year-old female patient admitted to our outpatient clinic because of itchy brown spots on her neck, anterior trunk and the back region for three years. She was diagnosed as CRP due to the clinical and histopathological findings and was treated successfully with a combination of topical calcipotriol and tretinoin. We aimed to review the clinical findings and treatment options of CRP, a rare dermatosis, in the light of the literature on the occasion of this case.Publication A case of congenital oligoastrocytoma(Erciyes Üniversitesi, 2013-03-01) Bükülmez, Ayşegül; Melek, Hamide; Koken, Reşit; Tuğral, Ayşe Sibel; Şahin, Önder; Melek, Hamide; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; FLA-3310-2022Congenital brain tumours, which have a poor prognosis, are commonly present at the perinatal period and very rarely encountered during childhood. The present case report describes a neonate who was diagnosed with congenital oligoastrocytoma. Physical examination revealed lethargy, macrocephaly, intercostal retractions, tachypnea, areflexia and pectus excavatum as well as the sign of sunset in both eyes. All the laboratory findings were within the normal range. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain showed a giant mass measuring 9x8x8 cm in the right ventricle. The neonate died on the eighth day of life due to rapid growth of the tumour and acute uncontrollable intracranial haemorrhage. Autopsy demonstrated that the right hemisphere was completely filled with a 17x15 cm cystic mass which contained blood, fibrin and necrotic tissue with a mucoid consistency. This cystic mass was histopathologically diagnosed as anaplastic oligoastrocytoma. The mitotic activity index was determined as 15% for all tumor cells.Publication A case of paramphistomosis and clinical evaluation in a cow with intensive breeding(Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam Univ Rektorlugu, 2023-01-01) Yavuz, Ahmet; ÖZÜİÇLİ, MEHMET; ÇIRAK, VELİ YILGÖR; YAVAŞ, ÖZKAN; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/Parazitoloji Anabilim Dalı.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/Patoloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-7703-8937Paramphistomosis is an infection caused by parasites belonging to the family Paramphistomidae in domestic and wild ruminants. Due to the biology of the parasites, infection is more common in grazing animals. Infections with a subclinical course may cause production losses, while deaths may occur in severe clinical infections. This case report presents a cow reared under the intensive system and diagnosed with Paramphistomosis at necropsy to draw the attention of researchers, veterinarians and breeders to the subject. A total of 3756 Paramphistomidae parasites were collected, 2434 from the rumen and 1322 from the reticulum, in the postmortem necropsy of a six-year-old Holstein cow, which did not go out to pasture after the heifer period. Histopathological examinations revealed hyperkeratosis and acanthotic areas, as well as mononuclear cell infiltrations in the mucosa of both organs. The most important point of this case is that the animal, which lived most of its life in the "intensive system", was found to be infected by a "pasture-borne" parasitic infection (Paramphistomosis). In this context, contrary to the general belief that "there are no internal parasites in animals kept under intensive production conditions", it is thought that it would be beneficial to perform clinical and laboratory examinations for endoparasitic infections (especially helminthosis) at least once a year in accordance with the concept of "preventive medicine".Publication A case report of primary breast angiosarcoma: Clinical presentation and outcome after adjuvant radiotherapy(Aves, 2020-10-01) Altmisdörtoğlu, Özgür; Andrieu, Meltem Nalca; Gökgöz, Mustafa Şehsuvar; GÖKGÖZ, MUSTAFA ŞEHSUVAR; Yalçınkaya, Ulviye; YALÇINKAYA, ÜLVİYE; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Patoloji Anabilim Dalı.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Genel Cerrahi Anabilim Dalı.; AAH-8924-2021Angiosarcomas of the breast are infrequent subtypes of sarcoma that are often diagnosed after radiation therapy for primary breast cancer. Primary angiosarcomas (PAS) are rare tumors that constitute 0.04% of all malignant breast tumors. We report a case of a 40-year-old woman with a lump in the right breast and diagnosed as angiosarcoma by pathological evaluation. She underwent simple mastectomy followed by adjuvant radiation. She is alive and disease-free for 66 months although tumor size was large and one surgical margin was tumor positive. Breast angiosarcoma is often in advanced stage at diagnosis and tends to recur locally. Although surgical methods constitute the primary treatment, we believe that a multidisciplinary treatment strategy should be used in high-risk patients with large primary tumors and tumor positive margins.Publication A case report; mumps acute cerebellitis presented as hydrocephalus and brainstem compression(Elsevier, 2015-10-15) Uzun, Meltem; Cufalı, Yelda; Kiristioğlu, Feride; Bodur, Muhittin; BODUR, MUHİTTİN; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Çocuk Nörolojisi Bölümü; 0000-0002-2588-8195; JAN-9435-2023; AAH-2684-2021Publication A civil phenomenon in the shadow of mourning: Religious associations in Iran(Aves, 2022-12-01) Kaynamazoğlu, Zeynep Sena; KAYNAMAZOĞLU, ZEYNEP SENA; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/İlahiyat Fakültesi/İslam Mezhepleri Tarihi Ana Bilim Dalı; 0000-0002-2285-7385; AAH-5124-2021The strongest element of Shi'ite popular religiosity is the mourning ceremonies performed in Moharram. MODIFIER LETTER LEFT HALF RINGAsura and similar religious ceremonies allow Shi'ite Muslims to renew their ties with the twelve Imams, especially Imam Husayn (d. 61/680) and to keep their collective memories alive. These ceremonies that constitute an important component of private religiosity have a comprehensive social and political aspect. One of the most important examples of this in con-temporary Iran is the religious associations (hey'at, plural hey'atha) composed of people who came together to perform religious ceremonies. Religious associations are a unique phenomenon produced by Iranian society in the modern period though the Fotowwa tradition (Javanmardi) has a strong influence on them. They are remarkable in terms of bringing people from different economic and social classes together on a common platform. Religious associations are dynamic structures with high mobility due to their civil and informal nature. This dynamism enabled them to play a key role in the Iranian Islamic Revolution and the Iran-Iraq war. As social conditions and styles of religiosity have changed, nature of religious associations has also changed; therefore, the authority wants to take them under control. This study reveals the social and political influence of popular religiosity by addressing the historical and religious origins and structure and social functions of the religious associations in addition to their relationship with politics.Publication A communication, management and tracking mobile application for enhancing earthquake preparedness and situational awareness in the event of an earthquake(MDPI, 2023-01-01) Kırcı, Pınar; Arslan, Davut; Dinçer, Süreyya Fatih; KIRCI, PINAR; Arslan, Davut; Dinçer, Süreyya Fatih; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümü; CZK-0182-2022; HME-3490-2023; HMI-2917-2023The presented DepApp is an application that provides information about the intensity, time and whereabouts of a recent earthquake. Musical Aptitude tests are prepared and applied by the Music Departments of universities. The Musical Aptitude Test that is used in Music Education BA program in Uludag University consists of two parts. The first part aims to determine the readiness level of the candidates in terms of music theory and ear training and serves as an elimination exam. The second part of the exam, on the other hand, intends to evaluate the musical talents of instrument and voice, and is used as a selection exam. Within this context, it is expected that students' success on the musical aptitude test has a significant impact on their GPAs. The relation between those two scores is thought to be crucial to obtain the data to determine validity of the test especially when the purpose of the test is considered. For this reason, students' GPAs, Ear Training and Musical Literacy I-II, Major Performance I-II, Solo Vocal Training I-II class average grades and 2013 Musical Aptitude test scores are analyzed comparatively. Positive correlation is sustained between the musical aptitude test scores and first year GPAs of the students as a result of descriptive analysis. Moreover, the results show that Musical Aptitude test applied in 2013 has a high degree of validity. (C) 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Fruits of tomato cv. Rio Grande((c)) were used and stored at 18 degrees C for 12months. Quality parameters of ascorbic acid, lycopene, beta-carotene, glucose, fructose and proteins, pH, color, acidity, water-soluble solids, and elements and azoxystrobine were measured. The results showed that amount of ascorbic acid and beta-carotene were similar in organic and conventional fresh tomatoes, but lycopene was found higher in conventional ones. Na and Mg were higher in conventional samples, but P, K, Ca, and Cu were higher in organic tomatoes. Organic samples were pesticide free, however, conventional fresh and 3month stored tomatoes contained pesticides. Nitrite was not detected in any sample. These results show that organic products are healthier. Organic fresh tomatoes got the highest scores in sensory analyses.Practical applicationsTomato is one of the most consumed fruits in the world. A comparative study was performed between organic and conventionally cultivated tomato fruits, in terms of some physicochemical and secondary metabolites for measure their quality properties and also investigated of effects on storage period both of the types of tomatoes. The results showed that serious reductions were observed after 12month of storage at -18oC in fruit quality criteria and antioxidant compounds, as well as nutritional parameters. Therefore, it can be recommended that conventional and organic tomatoes should not be stored longer than 9months. Nutritive products with high yield and quality can be obtained through the optimization of controllable conditions. Further researches are needed about the effect of cultural practices such as irrigation and fertilization on the quality and nutritional value of fruit, both in organic and conventional growing systems.
