    Bal ve apiterapi

    Apiterapi, bal arısı (Apis mellifera L.) ürünleri olan bal, polen, propolis, arı ekmeği (bee bread), arı sütü ve arı zehirinin hastalıkların tedavisinde veya önlenmesinde kullanılması olarak tanımlanabilir. Bal, yüksek enerjili ve karbonhidratlı bir madde olması, tadı, aroması ve diğer üstün özellikleri nedeniyle insanlar tarafından besin ve enerji kaynağı olarak en iyi bilinen ve tüketilen arı ürünüdür. Çeşitli bal türleri halk arasında birçok hastalığa karşı tedavi amacıyla da kullanılmaktadır. Balın kimyasal içeriği ve geleneksel tıpta kullanımı konusundaki çalışmalara giderek artan bir ilgi oluşmaktadır. Her geçen gün sonuçlanan araştırmalar balın insan sağlığı açısından faydalarını doğrulamakta ve apiterapik önemini artırmaktadır.

    A flowering calendar of plants growing near hives of natıve bees ın the lower amazon regıon, pará state, Brazil

    We followed the flowering of 46 plant species growing near hives of native bees in the Lower Amazon region in Brazil during a complete year. The months with the largest numbers of flowering species were July, August, December and January. The study area contained many ruderal, ornamental, and edible fruit species, many of them typical of the Amazon region. According to our field observations, local meliponiculturists and palynological literature, species such as Tachigalia sp., Tapirira guianensis Aubl. and Vismia guianensis (Aubl.) Pers. are good examples of plants frequently visited by native bees in the Brazilian Amazon.

    Survey of American foulbrood ın apıs mellıfera intermıssa colonıes in mid-northern region of Algeria

    American foulbrood caused by Paenibacillus larvae is one of the most serious bacterial diseases of honeybee brood. Few data are currently available on the prevalence of this disease in Algeria. This study provides an overview of the prevalence of this disease in the Mid-North. Samples of adult bees were collected from 65 apiaries. Detection of spore samples was performed using methods bacteriological, microscopic and biochemical. Spores of Paenibacillus larvae were detected in 23.5 % of the apiaries examined in 2010 and 30 % in 2011. The prevalence of the wreck is different from one region to another. Many factors can possibly explain this difference in the prevalence of the disease.
