| dc.description.abstract | Satranç sahip olduğu bilişsel özellikler bakımından bilişsel psikolojinin çalışma alanlarından biri olmuştur. Satrancın sahip olduğu bu özellikler satrancın çeşitli alanlara transfer olup olmadığının çalışılmasına sebep olmuştur. Bu çalışmanın amacı; satrancın çocukların planlama ve görsel-mekansal becerilerine etkisini incelemektir. Bu amaçla satranç bilen ve bilmeyen yaşları 10-14 aralığında olan 90 ortaokul öğrencisi ile çalışılmıştır. Çalışmada üç grup yer almaktadır. Birinci grup UKD puanı olan lisanslı satranç sporcularından, ikinci grup acemi satranç oyuncularından oluşmaktadır. Üçüncü grup da satranç bilmeyen çocuklardan oluşan kontrol grubudur. Bu üç grup yaş, cinsiyet ve matematik puanları açısından birbirine denk tutulmuştur. Çalışmada planlamayı ölçmek için Hanoi Kulesi Görevi; görsel-mekansal beceriler için Benton Görsel Bellek Testi ve Çizgi Yönünü Belirleme Testi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda satranç grubuna göre Hanoi Kulesi Görevi ve Çizgi Yönünü Belirleme Testi puanları farklılaşmıştır. Planlama becerisi uzman satranç grubunda acemi ve satranç bilmeyen öğrencilere göre anlamlı düzeyde yüksektir. Görsel-mekansal algılama becerisi de aynı şekilde uzman satranç grubunda anlamlı derecede yüksektir. Gruplara göre Benton Görsel Bellek Testi puanları arasında anlamlı bir fark yoktur. Çalışmanın sonuçları ilgili literatür açısından tartışılmıştır. | tr_TR |
| dc.description.abstract | Due to its special cognitive properties chess is one of the study topics in cognitive psychology. These properties give rise to research investigating whether chess skills can be transferred to other cognitive domains. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of chess on children's planning and visual spatial skills. For this purpose, 90 middle school children aged between 10 to 14 were tested. Participants were divided into three groups in terms of their chess knowledge. First group consisted of 30 children having National Chess Rating (UKD) ratings, namely professional chess players. Second group consisted of 30 novice chess players. Third group was control group including non chess players. These three groups were equated in terms of age, gender and math scores. Planning skills were assesed using Tower of Hanoi Task. Visual-Spatial skills were assesed using Line Orientation Test and Benton Visual Retention Test. The results showed that children with UKD rating, had better planning skills than both novice players and non chess players . Likewise, visual- spatial perception skills (which was measured using Line Orientation Test) were highest in expert group. There was no significant difference among the three groups in terms of Benton Visual Retention Test scores. Findings were discussed in terms of relevant literature. | en_US |
