| dc.description.abstract | Bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri (BİT) hem gelişmiş hem de gelişmekte olan ülkelerde ekonomik büyümeyi ve verimliliği arttırmak aynı zamanda bilgi transferini hızlandırmak için önemli bir araç olarak kullanılmıştır. Cep telefonları, diğer BİT araçlarının aksine kırsal ve uzak bölgelerdeki bilgiye erişmek için daha uygundur. Cep telefonu teknolojisinin yaygınlığı, küçük ölçekli çiftçiler için yeni fırsatlar yaratmıştır. Tarımsal bilgilere erişmek için cep telefonu kullanımı pazara erişimi kolaylaştırmış, işlem maliyetlerini düşürmüş, çiftlik verimini ve hane halkı gelirini artırmıştır. Etiyopya'da cep telefonu aboneleri hızla artmaktadır. Benzer şekilde, cep telefonu abonelerinin Etiyopya'da 40 milyondan fazla olduğu tahmin edilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, tarım sektöründe cep telefonu teknolojilerinin kullanımını incelenmiştir. Tarımsal faaliyetlerde cep telefonu kullanmanın yararları ve kısıtlamaları belirlenmiştir. Cep telefonlarındaki tarımsal bilgilere erişim, üretim, toprak verimliliği ve hane halkı geliri açısından analiz edilmiştir. Tez çalışması Bahir Dar Zuria ve Bure bölgelerinde yarı yapılandırılmış anketler kullanılarak toplanan ampirik verilere dayanmaktadır. Ampirik verileri analiz etmek için ikili probit modeli kullanılmıştır. Sonuç, cep telefonu kullanıcılarının çoğunun temel cep telefonu türlerini kullandığını göstermiştir. Ayrıca, küçük ölçekli çiftçilerin cep telefonu kullanım düzeyinin düşük olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte, tarımsal bilgilere erişmek için kullanılan cep telefonu hanehalkı gelirlerini, çiftlik verimliliğini ve pazar erişimi artırmıştır. Öte yandan, ücretsiz 8028 Çiftçi Yardım Hattı hizmetlerinin cep telefonları aracılığıyla tarımsal bilgilere erişilmesine önemli bir katkısı vardır. Son olarak, çalışma ile, talep odaklı bir bilgi erişim sistemi tasarlamanın ve küçük çiftçilerin cep telefonu okuryazarlığını artırmanın, tarımsal bilgilere erişmek için cep telefonu kullanımının faydalarını artıracağı sonucuna varılmıştır. | tr_TR |
| dc.description.abstract | Information and communication technologies (ICT) were used as a key tool in both developed and developing countries to increases economic growth, enhance efficiency, and accelerate the transfer of knowledge and information. Unlike other ICTs tools, mobile phones have more appropriate to access information to rural and remote areas. The widespread of mobile phone technology has created new opportunities for smallholder farmers. The use of mobile phones to access agricultural information has increased market access, reduces transaction costs, increases farm yield, and increases household income. Mobile phone subscribers were rapidly increasing in Ethiopia. Similarly, mobile phone subscribers have estimated more than 40 million in Ethiopia. This paper has assessed the use of mobile phone technologies in the agriculture sector. The benefits and constraints were identified to use mobile phones in agricultural activities. Access agricultural information on mobile phones has been analyzed on yield, soil fertility, and household income. This paper relies on empirical data that has been collected using semi-structured questionnaires in Bahir Dar Zuria and Bure districts. A binary probit model was employed to analyze the empirical data. The result indicated that most of the mobile phone users were using basic types of mobile phones. Besides, smallholder farmers have low level of mobile phone literacy. However, the use of mobile phones to access agricultural information increased their household income, farm productivity, and market access. On the other side, toll-free 8028 Farmer Hotline services have a significant contribution to accesses agronomical information via mobile phones. Finally, the paper concludes that designing a demand-driven information access system and increasing the smallholder farmers' mobile phone literacy enhance the benefits of the use of mobile phones to access agricultural information. | tr_TR |
