dc.description.abstract	In this study, lt had been discussed effects of earthquakes of The August 17, Izmit and The November 12. Duzce called disaster of this century. Wilhin the century, badly urbanization and its reasons had been touched. Besides, it had been expresself that we must have the disaster management system to be applied in state of disaster, otherwise hazard of disasters can be bed to the biggest problems.
dc.description.abstract	Bu çalışmada yüzyılın felaketi olarak adlandırılan 17 Ağustos İzmit ve 12 Kasım Düzce Depremlerinde oluşan yapısal çevresel hasarların etkileri incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda ülkemizdeki çarpık kentleşme olgusuna ve bunun sonuçlarına değinilmiştir. Ayrıca afet durumlarında uygulanması gereken afet eylem planlarının olması gerektiği, aksi takdirde felaketin boyutlarının daha da artacağı vurgulanmıştır.
