İzmir’de Yunan işgali: Millî Mücadele’nin dönüm noktasının İstanbul basınında yansımaları

Abstract

Mondros Mütarekesi Osmanlı Devleti topraklarını İtilaf Devletleri’nin işgaline açmış ve 7. madde gerekçesi ile işgaller başlamıştır. İzmir kenti ise Paris Barış Konferansı’nda alınan karar üzerine 15 Mayıs 1919’da Yunanistan tarafından işgal edilmiştir. Daha resmî işgal gerçekleştirilmeden önce işgal kararına karşı gelişen tepkiler, resmî işgalden sonra daha da yoğunlaşmış, kamu ve devlet erkânı nezdinde yaşanan reaksiyon yabancı basın ile Anadolu ve İstanbul basınına yansımıştır. Amacımız İzmir’in işgalinden sonra; tepkileri, Millî Mücadele’yi, İtilaf Devletleri ile Saray ve hükümetlerinin tutumlarını, amaçlarını ve beklentilerini işgalden hemen sonra İstanbul’da yayımlanan gazetelerdeki değerlendirmeler ekseninde ele almak, yorumlamak ve değerlendirmeleri incelemek olacaktır.The Armistice of Mudros opened the lands of the Ottoman Empire to the occupation of the Allied Powers, and the occupations began on the grounds of article 7. The city of İzmir was occupied by Greece on May 15, 1919, following the decision taken at the Paris Peace Conference. The reactions that developed against the occupation decision even before the official occupation was carried out, intensified even more after the official occupation, and the reaction experienced by the public and state officials was reflected in the foreign press and the Anatolian and İstanbul press. Our aim after the occupation of İzmir is to discuss, interpret and examine the reactions, the National Struggle, the attitudes, aims and expectations of the Allied Powers and the Palace and Governments on the basis of the evaluations in the newspapers published in İstanbul immediately after the occupation.
