Abstract
Safflower whose genetic origin is Anatolia was forgotten in time; however, it started to attract attention again as a raw material supply when biodiesel was started to be used in Turkey. Thus, its production has increased. The species like Remzibey 05 and Balcı were cultivated. In this study Remzibey 05 and Balcı species safflower oil was extracted from this safflower and biodiesel was produced from this oil. Phosphorus removal process is applied to crude oils used, whether for food or biodiesel purposes. The present study aims to bring the cost of phosphorous removal process down to the lowest levels, a process that has been shown to increase the cost of biodiesel production, by means of decreasing the amount of phosphorus in the seeds of safflower. The safflower plant will be exposed to P2O5 phosphorous in the doses of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 kg/ha respectively. Oil acid components and some fuel characteristics of the biodiesel produced were examined.
